As English is not my nature language, I would like to apologize for any possible weird expressions below 😊 Please comment and correct me, I like to learn to get better! First, I would like to compliment Tesla for more or less having started this EV revolution. This I am very grateful for, but I have now experienced the quality of their vehicles and I dare to say that it is more or less on level with the cheapest ICE vehicles available on the market. I have a Tesla model S that was built in August 2016 (face-lifted version). I have now driven it around 200 000 km (~125 000 miles). During more than 50 years now I have owned and driven several different brands and models and when comparing the Tesla with cars like Audi and Volvo, it feels like a step back at least some 25 years in time when it comes to both the build quality and the component quality of this Tesla. When it comes to the build quality I really don't know whether I should laugh or cry, that how bad it is compared to todays quality vehicles. There are so many components in my Tesla that I have been forced to replace because they have stopped working or simply just broke down. Some of them during the warranty period but most of it after. Components like head-lights and tail-lights, battery heater, cabin heater and more. Premature replacements of wheel-bearings, steering components and wheel suspensions, mostly due to unsufficient dimensions and corrosion protection. The worst incident, when a rear control-arm broke, could possibly have killed me if it had happen on the highway. Luckily it happened in a rather slow speed and I was able to keep control and stop the vehicle. I have examined the broken control-arm and I can see that it is not having the dimensions needed to support such a heavy and high-powered vehicle. Also, it is made of an aluminum alloy with a very low corrosion resistance, which was the direct reason why it broke. This happened at ~120 000 km (~75 000 miles). Something I have never experienced before during more than 50 years of driving all kinds of vehicles. Further, the steering column is fitted with a joint that is having no corrosion protection what so ever, something I have never seen on any other brand. Normally there is a rubber-bellows protecting this joint. On Tesla this leads to that the steering column will get almost stuck after some time, making any steering hard to perform. What I think was also mentioned in this video, Tesla are charging a ludicrous amonth of money/h for service and repair, here in Sweden it is around 167% more than what for example Volvo are charging. So, I am very sorry Elon but I just can't think of buying a Tesla EV again.

Old Generation mindset that only discussed the one-side point of view without the complete picture view. In fact, the EV drive motor would last much longer than gasoline engine. Your point here is invalid. The evolution of battery technology has solved the cold charging issue and slow charging issue with the LFP batteries and the upcoming solid state batteries. Please stay updated, not to disclose old information to the public. For battery life, the new generation of battery would last for a million miles, much longer than any combustion engine cars. Can you talk about the new technologies? If you don't know all these, please don't fool the public on your propaganda video.

How about asserting that BEVs are a racist product of white privilege (just ignore China) Also ignore the extraordinary successful attained by Tesla in recycling > 95% of Tesla batteries and it's success in moving battery production to the US. Please tell the Norwegians that Teslas are not a very good choice for cold weather, the fools have been buying a lot of them. And on the topic of batteries, batteries are so far the best method for storing and later using the vast quantity of solar power that is otherwise going to waste.

Seems like a fossil fuel-sponsered propaganda video. All the points in the video are debunked all over the net. THe facts are that EVs are very convenient. No more need to go to the gas station. Full tank every morning, when charging overnight. Cheaper to use electricity. MUCH lower maintenance costs. EV batteries last longer than most engines. No oil changes. No spark plugs. No tune ups. Less parts to break. Acceleration is MUCH faster... so fun to drive. As an actual owner of an EV, in almost 5 years, maintenance cost has been ZERO. I've changed a windshield wiper and an air filter. That's it. This video is not balanced. Only negative. Clearly sponsored propaganda.

How did you coincidentally happen to be in a location to see a rare fire? Did you review the police report to see if the cause of your supposed viewing had anything to do with being near the shore? @pacaguy I think your missing our point here which is expected of you as you an EVANGELIST so there can be no down sides, infact any kind of negative is a positive in your book. Flat tire, no spair and you can't change a flat tire. Not a problem that is why Tesla put a link to AAA Towing service right there on the iPad for you to sit back and relax while a Diesel Tow Truck comes to your rescue to pick you up and drive you and your car to the nearest tire shop. So three hours of your day now wasted relying on others to do what you could have all along....Vs 15 min to pull the spair, jack up car replace the wheel and be back on the road....This is just one example. We are not really nitpicking just the negatives. We all know they are fast, quiet, cheaper to run per mile one electrons vs gas etc..... we care about are the HUGE safety issues, we care about charging Infrastructure, the range, we care about self driving\crashing issues, we care about where and how the minnerals are mined the bigger questions that the typical EVANGELIST openly denies and won't even listen to opposing views from people that have been in the industry for decades. We were all hoping the EV was a better solution as that's how it was sold to us. Turns out it was all lies....lets just use range topic. The range on EV is like guessing how much gas is below the fuel gague "E" in an ICE, could be 20 mils could be 1 mile and your empty you just don't know. EV's Ranges are wildly exaggerated and degrade with normal every day use of things like the HEATER Windshield wipers, your IPAD, all the damm sensors etc. Maybe if enough of us Nitpick all the negatives they will fix the damm cars and they would actually be better than ICE. Open your Mind and think out side of Tesla and Elon box.

I hate this type of crap. It's all good until you sit down and pencil it out. Diesel is so incredibly power dence and we know the route the government wants us to buy into something and its truly green, as in all the green money it takes to refuel with electricity. We are just not there yet we don't have the tech yet to make even cars work properly.... so just why the rush into electric vehicles, because the want more of your green. It's just not time for happy happy joy joy, not even close!

@@videocanonuser I'm no expert on the subject, but as an outsider looking in, I bet the subsidies have something to do with national security. All Nato equipment must run in peace time on a select few fuels, mostly diesels, kerosenes and distillates of these two and in war time on a few more diesel-like fuels. Imagine how much fuel fighter jets, tanks, trucks, personal carriers, helicopters, self powered artillery, ships (I think aircraft carriers and subs are the only nuclear powered ones) etc etc need fuel? Even just on peace time, you need to use that equipment to keep training going on and you need a huge reserve of fuel on tap (heh heh) if stuff does get hairy and fuel does not last forever. You can't reliably make electric tanks or missile cruisers now can you? I'm just a civilian connecting the dots and if you were to look, I'm sure you wouldn't really be able to see just how much kerosene does the US airforce or US navy use yearly, but my guess is an imperial F***ton and then some.

Ev's are charged road tax in many not all states. Fair enough, but ecars should be taxed on miles driven and weight to be fair. Right now some of the tax rates on ev's are overdone flat rate taxes.

@@ronfarnsworth7074 you got a point there. I think the roadtax should by default go by weight and miles driven, maybe slap a fuel specific modifier on top. As it stands tho having the same taxes on a vehicle that just sits on the driveway 348 days per year and on a daily driver vehicle is just stupid. The way to implement this change might be trickier tho : many vehicles can have their odometers manually rewound thus making the miles driven part kinda iffy.

@@PleksilasiI like idea of fuel tax, it's easy to do for gas, but not so easy for ecars as there's no distinction where power comes from/goes to except at charging stations. But most ecar owners charge at home 90+% of the time and rarely use charging stations. The big picture for me with fuel tax is that the fossfuel industry in general needs to start paying for the massive health and enviro and climate damages it is still greenwashing to this day. For them it's all about money so lets make it about money in return. Fair enough? I'm oversimplifying though, like what would roads that we all drive on be made from if not asphalt? Cement has probs, I don't know what or how to think of that issue yet. Thanks for reply, I have more head scratching to do..

You clearly haven't been to costco in calgary! Their gas stations take 25-30 mins to get through if you are lucky. Also get a Tesla, it tells you exactly how far charging stations are away from you. They now have recycling of batteries, using less resources. This is the worst video I've ever seen re evs.

We have our ev.....best and safest car we've ever owned. Evs are slightly more expensive, but we pay less over the month for ownership of our ev including all the charging, than we paid purely for gas in a similar sized car. Saving money means people will buy them! They are also getting cheaper over time.Look at the facts before making vids. I'm suspecting oil and gas are subsidizing this vid.

Well we ICE drivers are subsidising EV drivers because insurance companies dont want tro be politically incorrect by charging EV owners sufficient funds to cover the damage that will be caused when an EV goes UP in a carpark, worse under a building, as has happened, when multiple other vehicles are destroyed.

Until they stop making the batteries with so much lithium I will never buy and ev. Lithium and the mines that it comes from are toxic much like nuclear waste we currently do not know what to do with it. Yes they say it will be recycled but this has not happened yet beyond experimental levels. So ev's are not any better for the environment than ICE cars which are totally recyclable.
