I always wondered if it was a Pianet or Wurly... As they sound so similar in the lower registers... But this pretty much nails it. Not to mention everyone says it was a wurly. I restore all manner of EP's... But I have soft spot for the more obscure ones... Like sixties Wurly's... 203w console etc....
@nonsuch
@nonsuch 7 ай бұрын
Yeah they do sound similar but, the Pianet doesn't get that same growl when you strike the keys hard like the Wurly. That's an easy way to tell the 2 apart. The 200 series consoles are just as cool. I have a very obscure 214v console with the Keynote Visualizer as well as the 200A in this vid. You can see it here kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWa3doulqZJghZo But really, any of the 200 series will do if you're looking for that sound. Cheers!

Does it really do 3D as a projector? Or only as a TV?
@nonsuch
@nonsuch 8 ай бұрын
It works great as either. It was a 65" 3D DLP TV which inherently has a 3D DLP Projector inside it. Instead of the DLP projector inside bouncing off a mirror to a polarized plastic sheet, you can point the projector anywhere you want. In my case, a projector screen so I can play games and watch movies, in 3D. The problem with it is it has a short throw lense so you can either put it close to the wall or try and put a new lens on. It's just a free solution because DLP TVs are generally thrown away.

@@nonsuch this will definitely be fun
@nonsuch
@nonsuch 8 ай бұрын
@@nathanbulle5782 It's only gonna be fun if you're into 3D. The new LED projectors are dirt cheap and have bulbs that last a super long time. Bulbs for DLP projectors/TVs are still expensive and only last for 4000 hrs or so. Of course, these cheap LED projectors don't do active 3D. Well, you can get them to do Red/Blue anaglyph 3D but, who wants that lol? However, if you want to make a passive polarized 3D setup, you can do that with 2 LED projectors, 2 polarized filters, and a silver screen. You would only be able to use it with your computer because you'd have to have a way to split 3D source material into Left and Right signals that you'd send to each projector from 2 outputs on your video card. There might be a box that can do it but I don't know of any. The best part of that setup is, you can use passive 3D glasses like you get at the movie theater. I had a setup like that for a long time 15 years ago before DLP projectors/TVs were cheap enough for a consumer. Good luck with whatever you come up with.

Check the connections to the IR receiver. It's possible a ribbon cable could have gotten knocked out when disassembling. Also, depending on the TV, it could be on a small breakout board that attaches to the TV's front bezel.

@@nonsuch built it on a veroboard today. Works great. I used 12v rails instead, as I'm on eurorack. It was a quick and dirty test with no panel or anything. now that I know it works I'll use this to create a more complex vco sometime later. EDIT: I should mention I didn't build the glide bit. but I like the idea of having it integrated into the vco as opposed to a separate module. I use glide often and its extra cool when you run several voices for that fat sound with separate glide times.
@nonsuch
@nonsuch 2 жыл бұрын
@@Nopp3 That's fantastic! Yeah, I would imagine 12v is probably ideal for most modular setups. Did you have to change any component values to accommodate that? So, the reason I built the glide circuit was because the MiniBrute doesn't send it's glide out on CV and I wanted it to have that. What ended up being cool about it is now I have multiple glides and that's normally not something the majority of synths have. It just adds another dimension. I'm glad it worked out for you. I need to build it on a permanent board as well. I just wanted to be able to swap components out to see what I could come up with and maybe get lucky with something different. The 566 is a great sounding chip. Cheers! 🍻

Can I put a mini projector in a 1990 Philips 55 inch tv?
@nonsuch
@nonsuch 2 жыл бұрын
To take the place of the original projector? I would say yes but, you might need to use the TV's old projector lens in place of the mini projector's lens. The TV's lens is a very short throw and there is a mirror and glass inside the TV that the image needs to bounce off of before it gets to the screen. It might be more trouble than it's worth and may not be bright enough. Since mini projectors are dirt cheap, just get one (if you don't already have one) and see what you come up with. If the TV just needs a bulb, that may be the best solution.

I still didn't bought the unit, or have a chance to test it. Need to be ordered, before I can test it. Found it for approximately 60 euros. Do you know how much are they worth nowadays? If it's not indiscreet, how much did you pay for your EQ?

@@sonysoni5079 It's been so long since I bought it I can't remember what I paid. Although, I can tell you it was very cheap or I wouldn't have bought it. Especially in non-working condition. Have you checked eBay to see if there are any for sale? Also check past auctions to see if any were on there, and if so, what they sold for. I think 60 euros is a great price, especially if it's working. Can you ask the seller if it works?
@sonysoni5079
@sonysoni5079 2 жыл бұрын
@@nonsuch When I was checking on ebay, few days ago, I didn't find any of them. I am probably going to get it. Technically the unit should be in good working order, but case exterior isn't particularly well preserved, but i don't mind that vary much. I even like the look and character of distressed hardware, as far as they perform normally. You should keep your EQ for now. Everyone is migrating in to a digital realm. Working on a DAW-s and plugin EQ-s. All manufacturers of analog audio hardware also migrate to digital. Digital mixing consoles, EQ, compressors... This analog hardware is going to go up in prices considerably in a few years span. I can't remember that I seen graphic EQ whit VU metars before. They're going to be gems.
@nonsuch
@nonsuch 2 жыл бұрын
@@sonysoni5079 Yeah, I have a lot of analog gear. However, there is still a market for it. A lot of companies are making reissues of sought after products and there's plenty to be had of brand new items. I've been using DAWs since 1994. I just have always used a combination of analog and digital. Definitely get the Tapco. I don't think you'll be disappointed as long as it works. Like I said before though clean the pots with Deoxit. They will perform better and slide easier.
