Yes, you're correct! The skating rink you're referring to was originally known as Atlantic Skating Rink before becoming Cherry's Roller Rink. It was located near South Capitol Street SE and Atlantic Street SE, in the area around Atlantic Avenue, which is why the rink was named after the street.

Go- Go crowds are the LIVEST. The girls never got tired, none of that " my feet hurt" or " I'm tired" or " I don't like that song".....you needed stamina back then to dance 2 hours straight. And that's from someone who grew up and lived in the Bronx, but i used to visit my homies in Annapolis and we would hit the Go-Go' s in Anne Arundel , Prince George's county and D.C..... I was 21- 24 yrs old and some of the best time of my life. I lost my mind when i first saw Junkyard playing on white buckets in Annapolis.

Ayre Rayde was the best, the best go-go band to come out on Maryland period. they gave the ALL the other bands plenty of smoke. I'm talking RE, EU TF and the Godfather all the Big bands. The smaller bands didn't stand a chance.
@ericharison87332 ай бұрын
One things for sure. After Footz was killed and the later Donnell and Derrick left this band never really could get this level of party back.

I have this Real McCoy.. this is way back in the RE railroad track days 70s. We use to be sweating out up Highland rec center. Playing from 8 to 12. By the time RE finished playing, it was a sweat box up in there, not to mention Highland auditorium, the doc n skating ring in the summertime. People from miles around would b there..it was like 1 DC family..I really missed them days!❤❤❤
