The US goal of future NATO membership in all surrounding regions of Russia is to provoke conflict with Russia, and not even regarding that it is a nuclear power. When Cuba was legally defended by USSR we almost blew the world up in response. The rampant US and British NGOs activity in Ukraine with vicious anti-Russia rhetoric over for years prior to the 2014 coup in Kiev - which I saw with my own eyes in horror - have now led to all of these hundreds of thousands of deaths. The same will be for Georgia if US interference there is not made illegal. You can understand why Russia offered protection to Crimea after the 2014 coup - without that the whole place would have been a NATO de facto military base almost instantly. If we just stay away from the affairs of Ukraine all would have been well, and if we get away from trying to influence Ukraine today, it will be the fastest path to allowing the country to be safe and capable to economically develop.

SLD (a left-wing party) is nothing more than a fake secularist party and a pseudo-secularist party. During the time the party has ruled Poland, SLD has done nothing to preserve the separation of the church and state, which has happened by the enactment of the 1993 concordat (the agreement between Poland and the Vatican) being signed by the ex-president of Poland Alexsander Kwasniewski in 1998, despite of the fact that the majority of the SLD MPs were against the concordat. What Aleksander Kwasniewski did was a form of treason towards Poland, as signing the concordat violated the rule in the Polish constitution with regards to the separation of church and state. Aleksander Kwasniewski has mindlessly enabled the politically catholic influence and political pressure into Poland from the Vatican by signing this concordat, which has lead to crosses being displayed onto the walls in public places and taxpayer funded places such as schools. I agree that some Tatar nationalists considered the treaty a betrayal, but many of them supported it because Tatarstan failed to cooperate with Bashkortostan. Tatarstan & Bashkortostan could've joined together and got the Quwandiq and Ghaysin districts of the Orenburg region (with approx. 50-60% indigenous Tatar-Bashkort population) and finally got the border with Kazakhstan. That's how Tatar people were thinking in the early 1990s, but because the negotiations failed, the project for independence was not an option. 7:30. I liked that much of the presentation was dedicated to the long history of the region, however, I wish you had spoken more regarding the military conflict in 2008 and current diplomatic relations. For years leading up to 2008 the Russian government had been giving citizenship to Abhazians and to people in Southern Ossetia. When Saakashvili attacked Southern Ossetia and then threatened to attack Abkhazia, Russia "justified" military action by looking at Article 51 Chapter 7 of the UN Treaty that states that Russia (any UN state) can defend itself (it was defending the sovereignty of it's citizens) without consulting the Security Council. It is a very intersting region to study.
