very cool!! sure is missing alot though. hopefully you have some of the parts, that engine, diff, stubshafts, and gears are about as hard to find as hens teeth, old neighbor of mine used to have one he was restoring and it took nearly his whole life to accumulate the parts needed. alot of it he had recasted

FYI- the whole floor pan, frame, gas tank, etc is all 1961-64 Chevrolet full size. There are about 4-6 different gas tank manufacturers and they are readily available from any number of suppliers including Rock Auto, Summit and even Piston Ring can order it in.

Couldn't see too well when you were soldering with the torch but you should make sure you heat sink the diode, especially with that amount of heat on it or it will be destroyed.

On my 57 Chev I added a diode in line with the feed wire from the key. Did this almost 20 years ago and no issues, same diode.

When Chris said "gotta run out and get a diode" I immediately thought Radio Shack, then paused the video and cried quietly in the bathroom. I miss Radio Shack.

The (R) terminal on the starter solenoid goes to the coil side of the ballast ,giving the coil full battery + at start up

# 2 spade of reg simply goes to bat post of alt it is the battery sense terminal # 1 spade goes to acc side of ing switch thru indicator light or resister . the reason for the resistance is if there ever is a bad connection on the battery out put to positive on battery ,alternator will not try to charge battery from the #2 lead there by over loading the wire and letting the smoke out

The wire that turns the alternator on must be on the accessory side of the ignition switch as well as heater signal and other accessories .Only the coil is to be on the ing.side of switch .This way there is no connection between the two when the ignition switch is in the off position
