Music is not notes on a page. The violinist should understand the inner part of Chinese personality. They express their love is hidden deep inside of their heart and is forever not like the western open widely
@陳威呈-o1z5 ай бұрын
There is no shame . Most western people do not the Chinese like some of us know Mozart and Beethoven.
A number of years ago I had the great honor and privilege of singing in a selection from the durufle requiem with the University of Alaska Fairbanks choir of the North. I am not religious. But. While I was performing. I could understand why people were. I listened to this in the hope of recapturing that now and. I think I did. at least a little bit. Hearing an orchestra instead of an organ was unusual but. Not bad. Cacophony and harmony are both important parts of the requiem, and this performance captured both very well. It helped me touch just a tiny bit of the sublime just now and I really needed it. Thank you.

I'll be perfectly honest, and it will show how blinded I was by growing up in a prejudiced neighborhood in a prejudiced family. I never gave a thought to ANY African-American, especially a female, who could compose such lovely music. I love classical music, and a new world has opened up for me. I will do research so that I identify composers of color to add to my ever-growing file folder of classical composers whose music i truly love.

The most famous African American symphonist was William Grant Still (1895-1978), and he composed five symphonies beginning in 1930, as well as four ballets and nine operas. The local symphony orchestra in Akron, Ohio, USA (where I live) will be playing several of his works this coming season, as well as this symphony by Florence Price.

Such a descriptive pieces close your eyes and you see Sinbads ship on the ocean suddenly hitting a squal then a heavy storm, battered by waves and wind through the night........coming through it in the dawn to a calm flat ocean with sea birds circling overhead Thank You so much for this.

There is a conservatory in Yale right? Why does this orchestra sounds like a community orchestra?
@bradtoben6138 ай бұрын
Maybe instead of tearing down an ensemble of undergraduate non-music majors (who I think are fantastic), you should be looking for ways to build them up. If you’re unable to do that, then maybe you should crawl back under the rock you came from.
@kelsocampbell13017 ай бұрын
The Philharmonia is actually the premier orchestra. The Yale Symphony is essentially the orchestra comprised of mostly of undergrad music and non-music majors....sort of a pick-up orchestra.
