Scary when for the UK market we convert the speeds these are "only" 30 to 40 mph , or standard community road speeds, were trying to implement 20's plenty in many areas but everyday i am passed by cars doing 40 to 60 mph+ in 30mph zones.

Ironic, the more testing and safer cars are made just makes people go faster and drive more reckless. "driver assist" will make people not even know how to look around and drive the GD car. NOW people and lawyers will start blaming the car and it's failing to prevent accidents.

Is it just be or did the Hyundai Santa fe perform way better than the Toyota Highlander an Honda pilot in this crash test exercise, the way the curtain air bags and steering wheel air bags remained inflated long enough and wide enough to protect the driver from further injuries and the cabin seemed to be well intacted showing how in a real world scenario the passengers would survive. Being that toyota and honda are way way older as car manufacturers than the Hyundai and Kia sister companies meaning they've had more time to perfect and improve those old models for over 2 decades it's a shame the Korean auto maker did better and in my opinion the Santa fe looks better and is a better value for the price , it's cheaper than the other competitors besides the Kia sorento they are similar in msrp. Way to go Korea and this is coming from A Subaru outback owner who knows all to well about safety an reliability. For those of you who don't know Subaru's are the safest vehicles in the world. If I ever were in a crash I would rather be in a Subaru, they even have their own short movie clips/ series on true life testaments on how SUBARU drivers survived in crashes. They are called "They lived, and or I survived, an also we lived" all those titles are some examples. The way the vehicle was constructed, the engine is designed to collapse an tuck under the vehicle rather than protrude into the cabin, the gas tank on all models is always placed on the right side of the car in case you ever run out of gas the driver would be filling up on the other side of the vehicle away from traffic an danger. I could go on an n about the safety features an how much incredible effort was put into Subaru vehicles to make them so safe. I love my 2013 OUTBACK!!!😎 I've owned it for 3 years now an got 240,907 miles on her. She has never ever had a check engine light or any major issues repair wise just basic oil changes an tires besides the AC compressor failed had to dish out $348 for a new compressor with an evac an recharge at A Subaru dealer. That car still drives like a dream an it handles extremely well not just in rain or snow but even on dry pavement it just hugs the road you feel so confident when your behind the wheel. Not to mention the Subaru eyesight system and the by far way SUPERIOR Symmetrical AWD. Subaru has the best awd it is AMAZING. I've driven all kinds of cars Vovlo(which is not safer than subaru idc if they invented the 3 point seatbelt,they could never lol) also driven Mercedes, Bmw, Jeep(they do have the best 4x4. I owned a grand Cherokee an I can attest to their 4x4 capabilities they are my favorite American vehicles also the the brother dodge. Better than chevy ford an all other booty american manufacturers. The downside with the jeep is they consume way to much fuel I had to big major repairs with that J.e.e.p(Just.Empties.Everyones.Pockets) I had to replace the entire radiator , the water pump, all kinds of m.a.p sensors crank shaft censors because the freakin car would shut off on my while I was driving literally like 60mph on the highway an that car would shut off while in motion very dangerous I would have to always drive close to or a lane near the shoulder just in case it cut off an there was no warning it would just completely shut off no power steering help it was ridiculous! Finally replaced those sensors air intake an 02 sensors. The problem was resolved. But wait there's more 🤣🤣🤣 My motor went. The entire motor had to be replaced an it wasn't a brand new motor it was rebuilt an the car never drived the same it would make all kinds of weird noises not to mention the 1000 of alignments an suspension repairs because of that annoying ass death wobble. That was it for me an then I fell in love with Subaru. I never had any those type of issues with my subie! Yes the Jeeps are good when you hit the 4x4 but I've gotten stuck in mud an deeep snow in that cherokee never have I needed help or being recovered in the Subaru!!!!! Not to mention my 4x4 also failed something about the transfer case an differential at that point I never repaired that it was just costing way to much to keep that vehicle going and I was younger then late teens early 20's had that Grand cherokee Laredo for 5 long years I didn't want to give up on it. Had all my friends an family saying the word "Jeepy".. I would brag about how capable an strong the car was now I brag about my Subaru!!!! But back to the toyota an honda yeah they last the test of time but they are TERRIBLE in snow and rain they slip an slide an when they hydroplane it's tough for the vehicle to recover an the awd systems on them cars suck big time. I would not want my children or family to be in those cars. My kids when able to operate a motor vehicle will DEFFINETLY be in a Subaru. They to are extremely reliable and last plus their hands down the safest an best by far awd out there, who wouldn't love a Subaru. Unless your a subaru hater, they tend to not care much for them.
@zahidmalik48082 жыл бұрын
And to clarify yes Hyundai an Kia vehicles aren't so well in rain or snow similar to its Asian counter parts they lack in that department as well. An for those curious about my jeep story yes the vehicle had good tires an yes it was well maintained even after all those issues. Also I know I compared Subaru to common luxury vehicles mainly the german an Swedish but that just goes to show you how you would just be paying for the badge of those companies and they cost an arm an a d**** to repair an to own. Besides they do NOT last the test of time, the interiors doesn't hold up too well peeling and chipping bad build quality and also to many electronic failures and issues. They cost way to much for all that to be happening just after 5 or 6 years of ownership even less some times.. immediate family members of mine have late model Mercedes and Volvo cars an it's sad how they look just a few years of owning them yeah they look nice an stylish but it's all a facade. The Volvo xc60 is my favorite European tho it drives soo smooth. An it sounds so good when you press that accelerator an I mean really give it some gas not flooring it but it does get up an go an that roar the engine makes is my favorite aspect besides the design. But again it's all for show I'm not even going to get started on BMW's an how much those owners are left with to repair oh man they have sooo many issues with all kinds of mechanical and electrical failures hey if your wealthy an can afford to own hey by all means. Bmw too drives very well I still like Volvo more. Out of all the whips I've driven Mazda, Infiniti, Acura, Jeep, Dodge,Chrysler, Ford, all gm's( general motors) pontiac, saturn, oldsmobile,chevy,gmc the koreans kia and hyundai an the Japanese honda toyota and lexus none of them at least in my opinion are better than Subaru. Yes no car is perfect and they all are not exempt from planned obsolescence which means everything and I mean everything now in days will eventually break down cars, appliances, everything I was born in 1991 and I've somewhat seen how the quality of things are just not the same. It's not like before you know like wood an furniture for example its like all ikea s*** or either made in china just plain ole poor building materials. Mostly everything is mass produced an mostly anything is built with that genuine quality care anymore. Which is sad because it just contributes to more trash an pollution once those objects have been rendered useless, it just benefits the corporations an their investors/share holders. Money is the name of the game it's all about consumerism.

The Fiat Punto in the first crash was not at all bad. he passenger compartment did not deform nor did the airbags fail. None of them looked really bad and I am surprised the Ford Mustang did as well as it did considering that in 2017 it got a one star crash rating in Australia and they banned the import of more of those cars. What we need to be looking for here is intrusion of motor or wheels into the passenger compartment or the deformation of the passenger compartment. At almost 7 minutes in I have seen none of those thing. Especially with the white Mustang, it was totaled but held up as well as any car I have seen in a crash test other than BMW. The glass did not even crack. Overall I believe every passenger would have survived all these tests.

Seems like I'm not the only person confused about the ratings here as if you look at the ford fiesta of the previous generation like 2012 to 2017 for example, the side performance isn't actually that good for what I believe is a 5 star rated car. And some of these really low rated cars still have okay crumple zones but maybe it's to do with the comfort of the dummies idk

@ericschultz10732 жыл бұрын
Either these tests are done much slower or the euroncap tests are much more difficult because almost all of these vehicles held up in all the front end colisions. There safety cage held up well except for the side pole test. The rear passenger restraints seemed to be poor but the cars tested like the mustang who is sitting back there? Not many. The us tests there are quite a few cars that the a pillar deforms. Now that's not good.
@xTruthxWithinx2 жыл бұрын
So when the cars score a 0-5 or less than a 3 what do they do? Do they still sell the car or do they make the manufacturer go back and correct it?
@nope.0. Жыл бұрын
The tests here are stricter than most national and EU regulations. A low score can mean poor sales, and high insurance costs so manufacturers are motivated to improve. For example, sales were so low for the Rover 100 after it got a one star rating that it was withdrawn.

Hardly the worst. All the passenger cells remained largely intact, which is the whole idea! The front especially is supposed to deform in a controlled manner to reduce the crash forces being transferred to the passenger cabin. Should do your research before you post misleading videos.

In the full width test, the child passenger dummy slipped out under the seat belt and sustained what would have amounted to a feet up on the dashboard type injury if it were a real person. You knows, heads of the femurs driven up into the torso type injuries. And the pressure on the drivers side airbag was insufficient and the dummies head struck the steering wheel with enough force to cause a life-threatening head injury. The fact that a mid-size vehicle underperformed vehicles in the sub-compact segment (which are generally the worst vehicles for safety) should be telling.

Funny how the Punto chassis is perfectly safe in every crash but gets 0/5 because it cannot avoid a crash itself. They should at least split the result between "active" and "passive". Stating a car is "unsafe" is very different from saying that is "safe in a crash, unable in assisting the driver avoiding it"
