Great info & advice.. and I always wondered why contractors would measure the floor & put their bid together based on sq footage of a room, instead of measure the walls & put a bid together based on the sq footage of surface area that they'd actually be painting. Thnx for the insight, good day.

Yes, did not have an expensive truck they drove up in their handshake felt like someone that actually did the work and they were on time and I did not have to follow up for the estimate.

What does a professional of the trade who is a son of a professional painter who was taught the right way my whole life i am currently 41 i have all my tools drywall and paint i am top of the skill i am currently full time union worker at close to 39 an hr in my area. But want to double my income to continue to raise my family without stressing

If I charged $50 a labor hour here for each worker I’d be out of business in a month. Foreign labor in my area has driven prices down big time. You don’t know everything there is to know bud. You don’t every market. Foreign workers are doing it for $14 to $15 an hour cash. New construction they are a $1.50 a square foot cheaper than I am as is. The one and only reason I am able to stay busy is our quality of work is considerably better. The very most I can get is about $25 an hour for each worker. I try and make around $35 to $40 an hours. Many times I get complaining and push back for the prices I charge now. I get beat on price regularly. I am lucky I am tied in with a group of contractors that know my reputation of being reliable and doing quality work.
