I haven't seen a live DCI show since around 92 or 93. It was the last time I ever played. I would LOVE to see another show. But there's never anything in Canada anymore. Or that I'm aware of. So watching all this talent online is a great way to kill an hour. Well done.

Sorry Top Secret but you are not even close to being as good as the Blue Devils. Get some quad drums and maybe you will get up to being half as good. This wasn't even a contest, LOL. Top Secret: Boring. Blue Devils: Great.

Ok to start off. The Blue Devils 2rd row were off with their sticks (by this I mean they were not at the same hight after leaving their drums. Small things like this is what Top Secret pay attention to). Everything Top Secret do is to DETAIL. And why they are known world wide. Even playing with the late Queen's Royal Marie Bard on stage. And again on the 2rd round. The Blue Devils middle row. They are not uniformed enough. Some bent their knees a little and some more, some did different things with their heads etc. It must be uniformed to get those extra points. The same goes for the 3rd row big drums. Some of the arms swings were a lot wider than others. It has to be uniformed to win. The 1st row was off at the end with their sticks. And if if slow it down and stop at 2:16. Again you see the middle row sticks all at different heights with the end guy's hands way above his head while his team mates were at chest height (middle guy a little off). At 11:25 when the are together. The 3rd guy in the blue shirt is off with his sticksnd even the Top Secret drummer next to him looks at him. But in a completion. This is what judges look for and why, even in practice. Top Secert are always on TOP!

This Blue Devils drumline was the International Corps drumline, which consisted of members who recently stopped marching for the World-Class corps, or who haven't marched for adjudication in years. They still care about uniformity, it's just that the international corps is mostly for musical entertainment. They still played harder music than Top Secret, and a good portion of these guys have won World-Class championships even. Also, this is a rehearsal. If you watched the actual show they did from the Basel Tattoo in 2015, you'll see they were all in uniformity until they started playing the groove portion in their part. The dancing and swaying was intended. Top Secret's pride is in an older style of rudimental drumming. They are elite because of their practice, dedication, and showmanship. The Blue Devils are American. They are rooted in the American-pioneered Drum and Bugle culture, which isn't something most Europeans see often. American marching drumming is much more rudimentary, advanced, and very hard to learn. There is a reason why any DCI world-class drumline would easily beat out Top Secret. And they will do it with equal precision. In 2016, I used to share sheet music with Top Secret Drum Corps members in the junior corps who were training to join the performance corps. They were infatuated with American style drumming. When I was 15 I was playing along with videos of Top Secret. I could play their entire shows. I am 23 now, and still learning some of the hardest DCI pieces from 30 years ago.

seen them both. top secret has a much more disiplined snare line. the blue devils with the toms are more diverse. if the competition is about precision, Top Secret runs away with the trophy...all of them. If the music is for fun, the blue devils certainly take the cake.

The Drumline was made up of former members of DCI. From what I heard is that they were past members of different Drum Corps and not necessarily former members of the Blue Devils A corps which to this day are a top 10 DCI corps. As for marching while playing. Yes all of them did march while playing in their respective corps. Outside of marching, it's common to to see drumline players pulsing with their legs or feet (marking time) to ensure accuracy when playing on a line stationary.
