Great ! Like the raw, undeveloped sound almost as much as the final take.😎

Love the way you do that song, heard other versions, but you are the best. My mate Jonathon said he filmed the 'official' video, that was brilliant. Keep at it please. Thanks

What a gorgeous song! And that tug in the voice on the last two words... Happy birthday, Henry, from a longtime admirer

Such an outstanding live performance of this song, by an outstanding band. In my own opinion, one of the best bands of the late 80's. 🙏👏👏👏

I heard Henry's first solo album containing the superb 'Grey's The New Blonde' and a couple of other decent songs, but his newer stuff really bites, especially this song. Now I'm trawling the catalog - love 'Valentine Song' too, and 'You are what we used to be' (that may not be exactly right, but it's the gist).

One of the (few) great songs to come out of Hull, by Henry Priestman, formerly of The Christians. Another would be 'Hull's Too Good For England,' plus a couple from Mick Ronson. Now, if you go to Sheffield, just down the road ...

Was that song actually written with Hull in mind?

Yes, special version of the original The Christians' 1987 hit Forgotten Town, but with lyrics rewritten for Hull City of Culture 2017

In 1981, when the teenage me was listening to this in boarding school in Switzerland (recorded via Radio Luxembourg on my mix-tape), I didn’t realise that the composer would play the same song in my living room in Merseyside 😊 It was even less likely that I would take up the guitar in my second half-century and try to learn how to play and sing it. Watching this video, I note that Jo Bushell is the only musician in it who has not played in my living room. Jo- we’re gonna have to remedy that when the locks are weleased… 😊

Wow! Sounds great! Yachts were one of the great bands from my youth. I tried to see them live at Malibu Nightclub on Long Island in the 80's, but got turned away at the door because I was "Under 18" : (

brilliant ............ such memories of happy nights at the Nashville (and other similar long lost venues) standing in front of Henry (stage left) c 40 years ago now - lovely to hear these early recordings - please let there be more to be unearthed as a 'lockdown' pleasure!

thanks for this Henry. I was around 17 when the Yachts stuff was coming out and so it is all indelibly carved into my brain. I bought the recent box set so I'm not convinced I would want to buy a disc of demos as part of a super-deluxe first album reissue, but it's lovely to hear you starting out. Wow though, Love You Love You (my favourite, obs) is so slooow in the demo!
