at 7:13 , Whitney improvises a diminished note in the melody that is usually not there, and the band improvises a passing chord that is usually not there, it is awesome how it resolves back to the first chord in the progression. It is achingly beautiful and I wish it wasn’t only a one time thing. Even in all the live version I’ve heard, they never did it again. Does anyone know what I’m talking about? It must have been the band following Whitney, or Whitney following the band, just one of those magic musical miracles that only happens in the moment when musicians are feeling the spirit, and “you can never get it back exactly the same way,” as Anita Baker put it!

Heres the thing, people think Lisa is more skilled simply because of her range. Here's my ranking, (no bias i love both): Lows: Lisa upto Eb3, then they tie. Mid belts: Whitney Upper belts: Tie. Lisa has more ease because her mix is more head dominant and also because her range is bigger, Whitney has much more fullness and power because of her chest dominant approach. Head voice: Whitney. Some people think it's Lisa because she has more ease from about C6, but fail to recognize this is because Whitney has a smaller range. For as high as Whitney can sing in head voice with comfort, upto about G5, her voice is fuller, rounder and more dynamic. C6 is a tie but i give the edge to Lisa, and above that is Lisa definitely, but that's more so super head voice and Lisa having a bigger range, thus more comfort. This doesn't prove vocal ability. Agility: Whitney, no questions, faster runs with more precision and better intonation. Dynamics: Whitney. Lisa's dynamics were stagnant in comparison to Whitney. Vibrato: Tie. All in all, Whitney is technically better than Lisa, but Lisa has a much bigger range which makes some people think she is more skilled, but that's a natural limitation. Of course, Lisa is quite close to Whitney technically, which feeds people's confusion more.
