What is the oldest perfume you have? I have a rapidly growing collection of perfumes that I adore with very few failed purchases. I have lots of back-ups also. My concern is that they might go bad. I was the kind of person who had one or two perfumes at a time but now I have so many and I would love to enjoy them all for the longest time. Can you help with point please? Thanks

Interesting review. I love and admire your honesty :). The aroma chemicals, I have no idea what they are but I wonder if that is why I can't stand the expensive designer stuff likes of chanel, dior, I did have a sample of a perfume of narcissa or something fame, sprayed it in my room, and it made me feel quasy and gave me a headache and took hours for the smell to f off. It was revolting, I only payed a penny for the sample at superdrug but bleurgh same with Jimmy Choo's newest perfume.

@@suzannesanderson there are some perfumes in the last few years that are just soooo synthetic that I'm sure I'm not the only person who is sensitive to them! Designer perfumes by (for instance) Paco Rabanne, Valentino & D&G are just a disaster for me

I got a sample of this one recently and found it was just way too strong. I did test it on skin and only used a very small amount. It wasn’t *bad* per se, but too intense. @skinscentsforfusspots3 күн бұрын
@@dr.claire.perfume it’s funny that Still works for me, but admittedly only in warm weather or I find it too sharp - that’s probably Ambroxan! I’ve discovered some really interesting things since I started this channel, but I really should go to a perfumery class one day; try to identify the ingredients that I want to avoid 🤣
@dr.claire.perfume3 күн бұрын
@skinscentsforfusspots the thing with ambroxan is that there are so many related chemicals, I clearly dislike one or some of them, but not all. It's just I don't know exactly which is which, so for me, there "good ambroxan" and "bad ambroxan" but of course, that really doesn't accurately cover it.

I’m not even sure what aroma chemicals are I guess. I thought all perfumes used at least SOME chemicals to cause aromas. But I guess I’m missing some details.
@skinscentsforfusspots3 күн бұрын
yes indeed almost all perfumes have aroma chemicals, ! They are often mixed with naturals too but things like Ambroxan have become fashionable and are used in much larger quantities nowadays, while naturals are used less. I’ve got like 300 perfumes that I love and only a handful, of those are mainly from natural compounds (hello lush and ånd fragrances!), but some companies use aroma chemicals that my nose just doesn’t recognise as perfume notes and the more I exposed to them, the worse they smell to me. Unfortunately for my nose and my channel, those are the trendy chemicals, so even the master perfumers use them. I’m in the minority of having a bad reaction to them! ‘Tis why my channel is has the word fusspots in it!
@katiejon17Күн бұрын
@@skinscentsforfusspots I think that helped me start wrapping my head around it. Would these aroma chemicals be something that gives a brand a “DNA”? @@skinscentsforfusspots I tried the Solinotes one a while ago and it was way too sweet for my taste. It's a lot sweeter than Vanilla 28 for example. Thank you so much for this video! I love your recommendations, especially cheaper alternatives to expensive scents. My absolute favourite at the moment is Orchidée Vanille, so I will DEFINITELY test the Monotheme one!!! Orchidée Vanille gives me a feeling that only one other perfume has ever given me, and that one was L by Lolita Lempicka. I'm not saying they are very similar, but they are both SO special to me. For cheap vanilla perfumes, I love Les Senteurs Gourmandes Vanille de la Réunion, Berdoues Vanille Safran or the new Yves Rocher Vanille d'Orchidee. Some vanilla scents make me sick or nauseous (Bare Vanilla for instance). By the way, I bought Boum Green Tea Cherry Blossom and it's SO pretty, but it makes me feel nauseous unfortunately, so sad!!! I get the same from Still by Jennifer Lopez. Such a beautiful scent, but apparently sometimes I have problems with tea notes. I love Idole Eau de Toilette and Arden White Tea though. Much love from Germany! ❤️❤️❤️

I'm so glad you like my videos! A shame about tea making you nauseous - I get that with some notes but thankfully not tea. I've never had a chance to smell the Les Senteurs Gourmandes because the price is really marked up if I want to get them shipped to the UK, but it looks like there's lots of good scents in that range. I hope you like the Monotheme Vanilla if you get to try it!
@Tangerine3404 күн бұрын
@skinscentsforfusspots The Monotheme arrived today, I blind bought it as it was only around 17€ and it's so pretty! To my nose, it's a very dry, powdery, fluffy, floral kind of vanilla, somehow "cool". I totally get why people compare this to Orchidée Vanille. The openings are very different, but they're the same kind of vanilla in the drydown, BUT Orchidée Vanille has this warmth and depth that makes it so special to me. The Monotheme was a great recommendation as I don't like too sweet vanillas, so thank you 🙃😍! By the way, my husband said it reminds him of some nice Dove bodylotion, he liked it. I also blind bought Maison Alhambra Athena which is a beautiful lavender vanilla and in a similar range as Burberry Goddess. I quite like it although I'm not a fan of lavender in perfumes. It's definitely very similar to Burberry Goddess but the latter is sweeter.

I just noticed recently that maturation made my Adam Levine fragrance way stronger. I think it also made the vanilla more prominent, which I really enjoy. I’m sorry it’s too strong for you! For me, I think it’s just the right amount of strength. Maybe my nose is less sensitive. I’d give it a 7 out of 10 on strength, and fragrances I’d rate higher than that are usually too much for me. I got a sample of Lattafa’s Khamrah, which I’d rate as a 10 on strength, and I can smell it all over my apartment when I even just open the drawer that the sample’s sitting in. I absolutely cannot wear it!
@skinscentsforfusspots7 күн бұрын
Oh I reckon I could smell most Lattafa perfumes from space! Too strong! I reckon I can wear 5/10 strength-wise and occasionally push it to 6/10 in cold weather, but only with certain notes!. I'm too fussy for genuinely strong perfumes but my soft spot for more powerful scents seems to be those with aldehydes. No5, Poison, Cabotine etc.... although I tend to go for the softest version of all of those profiles lol. Cabotine de Gres edp for instance - only in ice-cold weather! The edt version was oddly too strong for me but the edp is a bit calmer.

@ ooh I like the idea that there are certain notes a person can tolerate more than others. If the Adam Levine were that strong with ambroxan or anything like that, I certainly wouldn’t tolerate it (tbh over time I think either fragrances have started using that note a lot more or I’ve become more and more sensitive to it). I think my tolerance is highest for floral vanillas and sandalwoods. So interesting to think about!

From the description and your review i don't think I'd like this perfume. It sounds sickeningly sweet and like it'd be cloying. I tried Britney spears fantasy, made the mistake of purchasing a 30ml size whilst on offer and yeah cloying, smelt synthetic chemically and too sweet. In regards to your comment about price , I am finding that i prefer a lot of cheap, more affordable perfumes. The expensive to extortionate ones smell anything but worth their price tag. I don't know why. The jimmy choo one i tried smelt nauseating. I've tried viktor rolf flower bomb headeache inducing bleurgh. I have revolution floral seduction, which is meant to be a dupe for it, and it's lovely far better and cheaper. I've tried next perfumes that smell far better than the designer stuff. And ofc there's laimant dirt cheap but smells complex,sophisticated, and anything but cheap. It actually smells luxurious to me but without the luxury price tag. I did try cerruti 1881 on my skin at superdrug this past week, but it smelt boozy to me and the dry down I didn't like, too overpowering. I'm super fussy with smells lol. But perfume should be enticing, inviting pleasant not headeache incucing sickly sweet that you want to run in the opposite direction.
