Indeed, the Pilgrim Fathers didn't flee the religious prosecution in England, but the religious freedom in the Dutch Republic. They were puritans and feared the influence of the Dutch protetstants, who weren't prudes like them, on their children.

Hey Fisher I was looking for videos on Texas Weslyan College and yours popped up. Different college but once I started watching your video I had to finish it. You did a great job on the video and I am sure you're having a great experience there. Looks like you have some great friends to enjoy the journey with. Take it all in......the memories will be with you for a lifetime. 👍👍

That McDonald's restaurant in the square was the first one to open in the Netherlands. I grew up in Noordwijk so I went to Leiden very often. Also I recorded my bands video clip in that "castle". kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqGlco2wg7Rsm8Usi=cWTtcOLiIdFk6aAY

City not real 😀 do you realize that before founding their American colony, the Pilgrim Fathers first lived in Leiden in the early 17th century. This group has no fewer than nine American presidents among its among its descendants. The University played an important role in the Pilgrims’ life in Leiden. 😀

The fact that you feel that Leiden is unreal shows how American city planners sucked with urban design. Of course Leiden is a very nice place but from an European perspective its features are not that rare, and certainly not unreal.

I would think that in terms of the riding rules, assuming you don't take any time to go by rule summaries or pamphlets, if you're alone, you'd just go slower and take your time to figure it out, and alternatively if you're not, and people are riding everywhere around you, you'd kind of stick to the herd in a direction, and mimic them till you figure it out. Plus it seems that people ride slower there anyway, unlike myself on typical rides I make. That might take some getting used to right there.

Sure, because stopping to give priority to cars is just an insane thing to do. After all when the car hits you, through your own stupidity, you still get paid because the driver is always wrong.

@@williamgeardener2509no, when you are wrong, and they will investigate if the is medical need, you will be held accountable. It is a common misunderstanding, but priority is who are the most vulnerable. As a cyclist you will have a hard time when the pedestrian has right of way...
@williamgeardener2509
@williamgeardener2509 Күн бұрын
@@Paul_C Not really in the Netherlands. There's a Dutch court ruling that everyone knows that bicyclists run red lights, so if a motorist hits one of these idiots, they are liable. A niece of mine ran a red light, got hit, and got paid all her expenses and damages. Best part: She ran a red light on a crossing where people drove 80 km per hour, and she was no stranger to that crossing either.

Locals will run red lights, that they know and when there is no police in sight. It actually makes biking more efficient, because let's say there's 20 cyclists approaching a red light and 7 slip through, then there only 13 starting up at the same time. In short, better use of the road, time and space. But, only do it when you know the times of a light, and how long it takes for the cars in the other direction start up.

Police dont care if ur running a red light as a biker, as long as it's not at a busy intersection. Plus you need carrier on bicycle in case you need to give someone a ride. but most importantly look behind you when overtaking someone on biking lane
