Good morning from the Great State of Texas. Today I found your video. I also have a Toyoto 4 Runner. What is the purpose of the chisel? I do carry a couple more screwdrivers. Are your wrenches the ratchet wrench type? I do not carry the 1/2 socket sets. I do carry a swivel 3/8 ratchet and a 3/8 inch breaker bar. Have good day and be safe.

I agree with everything in your tool roll except your socket sets. I keep my socket set and ratchets wrenches in a separate hard shell carrying case designed for them. It's much faster to locate a specific socket then replace it where it belongs. I also noticed you only had a ratcheting style crew driver with bits. I also carry one of those but I also carry an assortment of screw drivers from flatheads, to Phillips to Torx. Nice kit though.

Socket cases in this application took more space than I was willing to give up. Sockets in the shop are organized for speed, tools in this application are packed with space savings in mind.

I think it’s important to start with what you can afford. I arrived at this bag after using a variety of Klein and Carhart products. I’d be interested to see what you come up with on that budget, so keep us posted! It took a few years of tweaking to get it here and it’s changed since this filming. what kind of repairs can you do on the "trail"? Don't you need to have spare parts to do repairs? Also it's worth mentioning that if you want to have a superior folding knife, then one option would be the cold steel instead of the Bitchmade.

@grahamsteckly95113 жыл бұрын
Why do you want to take fuel out for a ride with the GSA? Lots of easy ways to carry extra fuel if you need it. Many people I ride with that have the GSA will not buy another one. The GS has a large enough tank for most all trips, and besides, if you ride with others chances are they will need to stop for fuel before you will. Note that the GS will go easily 45 kms when tank gauge says empty. Hope this is helpful. Cheers

Great Bike! Have been driving bikes for a lot of years now, and have "landed" on a BMW 2021 GSA. That is my fourth BMW(2018 1200 GS, 2019 1250 GS, 2020 1250 GSA, and the last one 2021 1250 GSA) and i,m VERY satisfied. In 2017 i had a KTM 1290, and in the beginning of 2018 i bought a Triumph Tiger1200. Both great bikes, but in my opinion, the BMW is a step "up", and clearly the most versatile of them. Not as fast as the KTM, and not as comfy as the tiger on the highways, but in "all" a better bike for variable use. A heavy bike, but i feel that the weight is placed low, so it feels very easy to handle. The swing radius is also impeccable. I,m retired(firefighter), and i,m using my BMW daily. Bought it in July 2021, and have been driving 6700 km so far. My longest trip with it was 680 km in one day, and that was a plasure ride from the start to the end. I coose the Michelin Adventure tyres, and are very happy with them. We have a lot of gravel roads in the mountains i Norway. I,m 195 cm tall, and for my size the GSA suits perfect. I have no plans for replacing it for the next years. Congratulations with a reasonable choise : )) Greetings from cold Norway

I’m curious why you went with the regular height bike. I’m slightly taller than you (5’9”) and I went with the lowered suspension version with a low seat. I can flatfoot the bike and have not noticed any downsides. The low seat is probably not quite as comfortable as the regular seat, but it is narrower in the front so it’s easier to flatfoot. I would not feel comfortable on a bike this size on my tippy toes, particularly with a passenger.
@line4expeditions7513 жыл бұрын
I did the BMW Academy with a lowered bike and wanted a little more ground clearance. I don’t enjoy being stopped for long periods of time with the wife and a full top case, but it’s not bad by myself.
@kevinmccarthy6213 жыл бұрын
You should at least consider getting a low seat. I would gladly trade off the comfort to avoid an embarrassing tip over with my wife! That would not go over well :-)

Suspension travel is reduced with the low suspension. There are 5’4”-5-6” women riding regular suspension.

I have the same model and have no issues with footpegs at all. What I have issue with is the unbelievable front tire noise. I am just wondering why people are not mentioning this in their reviews? Furthermore, I cannot agree with you about the cost of accessories...like luggage... buy GIVI... the price is always the same, or lone rider same price as well no matter the bike is. having connected TFT display and BMW navigator at the same time? Why you would do that? BMW navigator allows you to make phones, listen to music, use Spotify and most important to navigate. TFT on the other hand does not allow anything besides listening music from your phone - you have to have downloaded songs, or making phone calls. So again, I do not get it why you want to have your intercom connected with TFT...BMW navigator is 100% better option until BMW brings apple car play and android auto. I had Africa Twin 2020 model and car play is the best upgrade possible ever.
@line4expeditions7513 жыл бұрын
To clarify, the issue is with the Passenger pegs. I’d love to discuss the navigator more with you, as it seems you’ve figured it out. I find it tedious at the moment and default back to Google Maps. Additionally, I’m still annoyed by the placement. The fact that it completely blocks the TFT while riding in the standing position seems like something BMW could overcome.
@dvenohy13 жыл бұрын
@@line4expeditions751 hey m8. well, on Africa twin the TFT was in front and was at risk in a case of fall. I like the BMW TFT to be so down and behind as its very safe. and yes everything has advantages and disadvantages. However, I cannot imagine looking at tft when standing in difficult technical off-road. Re the footpegs - yes I was talking about passengers pegs as well. re the navigator - I have a dual channel communicator, but I don't use it with the tft at all, as it makes no sense to me. As I wrote above, TFT is shit for connectivity and the only thing it can do is calls and that can be done by navigator much better.
@avantos21133 жыл бұрын
Nice video! Regarding your issue on getting on the bike - I rented a 1250 GS for a weekend to make sure I liked it (I did) and that my wife liked it too (she did) before I committed to work towards buying one (still working on it but hopefully *very* soon). She's also shorter than me (I'm 5'10, she's 5'6ish) and what I did was have her mount the bike in the drivers seat and slide back onto the passenger seat. She was able to use the bars and the brake as a stabilizing point and found it to be much easier than the "traditional" way of getting on. Also, don't don't have her swing her leg over. Left foot on the peg, pick up the leg and "step" over the seat and then sit. The guy I rented from suggested this method and it was ***WAY*** easier for both of us to get on and off the bike.
@line4expeditions7513 жыл бұрын

Beautiful bike. It’s the gold standard. Everybody tries but just don’t quite quite match the ethos of this bike. Ducati’s Multistrada V4s is really just a street hooligan in adventure clothing. For me lacks the “fit and finish” and pannier size and robustness of the BMW. Too plasticky.
