excellent stuff. can I ask how you would advise recording the rhythm parts? onto one track in the DAW or separate tracks?
@AThousandDetails
@AThousandDetails 23 күн бұрын
Depends... It really depends on you and how comfortable are you gain staging and afterward mix. The easiest form to work afterwards I would separate rhytm from rest. I for example nowadays always work with everything in a 2buss (master) file. and then mix it and process it. 5 years ago I wouldn't even dare to do it this way, nowadays I embrace it even more just recording the full mix in one stereo stem. Nothing like trying and seeing what you can do with both ;) Thanks for watching!

Something you might want to consider. Using your mic to pick up audio from the speaker… That doesn’t REALLY tell us anything about the sound it creates. On top of that KZbin messes with the audio too… Maybe in the future run the headphone output on the device and your mic to a mixer so that we can get a better idea of what the audio sounds like?
@AThousandDetails
@AThousandDetails 25 күн бұрын
Hi. Why would I want my mic to pick up audio from the speaker? I think you're missing some kind of point here or not understanding how things are? Any instrument I take goes line in directly as it's obvious and the mic is on another track, for mixing purposes later on. This is a 12Bit Sampler, and on purpose I only used it as a 12 Bit Sampler, which makes things way more dirty and interesting in my opinion. You're hearing direct LINE IN SOUND with no added treatment or whatever so you can really hear what it sounds like, instead of drenched in reverb videos to make it sound "beautiful". You'll hear the exact same thing monitoring directly from a piece of gear or if you connect it to a mixer or interface, and don't do any treatment. The only thing I'd like to change in the future is getting a way better mic instead of using my wireless go II with a Lavalier mic. Other than that, I'm sorry but I don't even understand your argument. Thanks for your feedback anyway.

the Kyra is an outstanding Synth with its own sad history. It is not a real Waldorf design. 8 Outs Multi 128 Voices each and so on... So i would not compare it to an access virus, but it is kinda a great replacement. People complain about the UI design and missing encoder. Actually it doesn't matter if You twiddle a knob till Your elbow explode or if You do the same to one of Your fingers by just holding/tapping a button. It is just in the head. Same for the ton of wave-forms... i would see them simple as an additional feature. But scrolling/stepping throw is the same on any other hardware device. yada yada. i am happy i bought one on sale this year and it cured a lot of GAS. it is also like having 8 Synths IF you just jam dawless. It has a lot of power and sounds superb. The presets won't show it on first glance imo. Not to forget the OSC design and dual stereo Filters...

NO synth out there streams 8x stereo channels @96KHZ directly into your daw with 128 voices. This thing is a beast. And yes, it lacks a data wheel. So What? No synth is perfect. I own a Kyra (besides 16 other HW synths) since the beginning and it simply is a top notch synth. 4096 Waveforms to chose from... 10 OSC's per patch...Hello? HELLOOO?
@AThousandDetails
@AThousandDetails Ай бұрын
Indeed it is, and it's factual that the Kyra is a BEAST. Specs wise and possibilities wise is insane, but unfortunately I think it got faded due to lack of pushing some firmware updates, support from Waldorf and the UI is a bit "damned". I think I made the point in a very correct way, and remember these are my own opinions, feelings about the piece of gear, i'm just exposing my own mind process why I pick a synth and what tickles me to use it in my music. My point was, no matter if it's a hell of a synth specs wise, if you don't gel with it, there's nothing you can do. In my case was the UI, and for me that has a big weight as I basicaly do music by jamming and playing it "live". But saying "it sucks" just because, it's not being faithful and honest about the capacity of the Kyra. It sounds amazing imho, killer pads and atmosphere machines. It's a pitty it got this destiny, it feels like a diamond waiting to be just a tiny bit more polished and this would be an insane offer, at 1500 euros. Thanks for watching and your thoughts!
@j6700b
@j6700b 2 ай бұрын
Oh man - you bought it without having any information about it ;-) yes, then you will stuck in some places ... the Kyra is not easy to use, but it sounds sometimes outstanding. Well, you need to dive into it and also read about some basic stuff.... i think this is the reason, why the Kyra will not find many friends. You need to know, that it's not an original Waldorf synth like the Iridium. The Kyra was developed ready from another guy and Waldorf just bought this concept and put it into an own housing. And they also don't think about any updates. So - we have to live with it as it is and be happy about it's big capabilities. There is no other synth out there with 8 parts multitimbral and 128 guaranteed voices !! For managing the amount of availlable sounds (big memory) you'll need a software manager/editor (yes, there are 3 out there - only not from waldorf) - but then it becomes easier .... good luck ;-)
@AThousandDetails
@AThousandDetails 2 ай бұрын
Hey man! I felt that, it sounded really good, especially pads, strings, textures, it's insane. But just like you said and I think I made the same point, it's a sound design paradise synth that obliges you to read manual and set time aside to learn the mindset / way to work, before doing anythiny soundwise. Thankfully it was borrowed :P but I remember perfectly well the Valkyrie story with the french guy, and then Waldorf just bought it. It's a shame that it got faded a lot, because the sound design crowd who don't care about any performance or jamming had here a synth ready to bang for years and years of exploration. For me, the way I work, it doesn't match and the bugs / ui is a bit nasty, but indeed is not as bad as many put it. Cheers and thanks for watching!
