That Gene Chander's son should just be quiet, too much of a showoff. I loved Gene Chandler and he is sur e not him. Love the Originals always thought it was only one guy leading really shocked when I saw their video. They are all great singers. RIH to them all. Love Mr Dixon♥️

I heard a good story about this song. Archie Bell recorded Tighten Up and then was duly shipped out to Vietnam where he got injured. He was sent to the Army hospital in West Germany. He was placed in a ward and one day on the ward, Tighten Up came up on the radio. Archie Bell sat up and shouted "Hey guys! That's ME!" The rest of the soldiers didn't believe him.

Richard Berry was my uncle for a time (he and my auntie later divorced). He sold the song to marry my aunt Dorothy for a very small sum and then fought to reclaim the rights later. Fascinating family history. Thank you for sharing! ❤️
