BE AWARE: This work is the "Duo Sonata for Cello and Double Bass" by Gioacchino Rossini ! The players should definitely have hinted to that. If the work is attributed to Teppo Hauta Aho or if that composer declares it to be his, it is plagiarism.

The copyright duration of composed music is the same as for books, paintings and other literary and artistic works: the author's lifetime + 70 years. Therefore, the musical compositions of old masters like Beethoven (1770 - 1827) or Mozart (1756 - 1791) are all in the public domain and you can freely use them. It is Teppo's piece for cello bass duo. He may inspired by Rossini's beginning. If you think it is plagiarism or whatever you feel uncomfortable, then you should ask to him directly. Not me or those players.

@@Jungdoong You confuse copyright with moral rights. In Finland moral rights are perpetual and they include authorship and integrity of work. We understand it is not the fault of the musicians, but it nevertheless remains ethically disturbing. A reference to Rossini at least should have been made. To tell you the truth, after the first 5 bars I was about to quit the video for this reason. Only after reading your comment I listened to the whole piece. Said that, the performance is very good. Congratulations.

@@marcofratnik4533 Ysaye did the exact same thing in his Violin Sonata 2 (obsession), Beethoven used other pieces as a base several times without reference. It's unfortunate that you chose to attack this lovely performance.

Great performance! However, one piece of advice for other bassists who may be watching. This is a general thing, not a rule, but I advise against having the piano being completely open. The pianobcan very easily drown out a bassist and make it difficult for the nuances of the performance be heard. The point of solo tuning is, in part, to cut through more easily, but even that won't make much difference if you're being overpowered by the piano. I generally make sure that the piano lid is at its lowest notch.

I don’t know, but it seems to be the same arrangement that Minje and Mikyung Sung played on KBS TV about six months earlier. You could ask one of them.
