From The New Music, a fantastic weekly show on CITY-TV in Toronto, that preceded MTV/MuchMusic. JD Roberts got disillusioned with music media and went on to become a Fox News anchor.

I totally understand what he means about countries and "false" auras. But it is kind of charming that back then he was so naive and wanted so hard to be American that he totally projected his own American delusions onto what America actually is. In any case it is normal that he felt that way about London (I myself think the same about London), because the image he had was based on stuff from centuries ago that of course are far from current England, whereas the US is a pretty new country that have no past or history on which building those kind of auras, except for this Western road movie thing... which only matches with reality if you replay that road movie fantasy on your head while being there... which obviously is what Nick Cave did when he was in the US.

The kind of interview that makes it all seem a lot more garbage than it actually was. Although it was mostly garbage.

The face touching and eye rubbing are annoying as fck. He gives notoriously boring as hell interviews and he’d be the first to agree. He gives brilliant music though.

Mick Jones is correct. I was so miserable as a teen being forced to hear freaking Cocaine, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd 24/7. When I heard Punk and New Wave in the late 70s, a light bulb went off in my head, and I am so very grateful!

BRO THIS GUY IS SO- LIKEEEEEEEEEE... I DON'T GET IT. lmaoo. i've watched so many interviews of black and pixies and they seem like, not like a joke, but, like, just these people. BUT THEN I go and grind their catalog for an hour straight for the millionth time and they're just like something completely different. like HOWW DID they ever come up with the stuff they came up with?!? by far my fav band- BY FAR THE BAND.
