Everytime I hear this I see beautiful Tupac dancing his own choreographed contemporary dance to this song as a young teen. 😪😞❤️

Don McLean's American😮 Pie is practically an anthem and written by McClean after the death of the late Buddy Holly and this song, Vincent was written for Vincent Van Gogh, who was ridiculed and ostracized by fellow artists and the public humiliation contributed to his suicide. Van Gogh who suffered from deep depression, died penniless and alone. His painting "Starry Starry Night" is considered a masterpiece today and I hope that Vincent Van Gogh somehow knows that he is appreciated in today's world of art. I think that Don McLean relates to Van Gogh because he's such a beautiful singer and his songwriting skills are amazing. His musical genius has not been appreciated enough, in my opinion.

Don McLean got a lot of exposure on radio and TV for his two hits in the early 70s. After that, he kind of faded into obscurity. The whole singer-songwriter/storyteller movement had faded out by the late 70s. By the time MTV was launched in 1981, they were all out of fashion. So they either changed their style to be more current, or carried on doing gigs without having hits, or they stopped playing altogether.

I wasn’t so moved as by the original from 1972 when Dons voice was as clean and pure as Vincent’s eyes of China blue

Both wonderful and sad at the same time, Don looks like a defeated man here perhaps remembering when he first sang this song and of course recognising the change in his voice 😔. A fantastic song

I think that Don McLean relates to the downtrodden people who are not appreciated by the public. I believe he relates to the Vincents of the world.

You cannot take away McLean’s poetic lyrics and song writing, but he must be thinking, “I once had a strong voice like that” when he hears Sheeran sing. Great treat. What a thrill for Ed and the fans that night.

Jibber jabber in the background is rude and annoying during such a deep and tender beautiful work of art about an artist's suffering to a suffering artist. I can't listen to it without a tear. and the bitches in the background just keep on jabbering. Probably had no notion of whom the Vincent in the song referred to. Or about how he lived in poverty and devolved into madness and finally took his own life and left on uncaring public some of the greatest works of art created by man. "Sunflowers" was sold decades ago for $30 million dollars. Vincent had to borrow money for paint.

One of “Prince’s” favorite also one of Tupac’s favorite. He had his Sister put this song “Vincent” on a loop and take it to him in the Hospital where he died. He was a Poet and appreciated Don McCleans Homage to Vincent Van Gogh. The Singer/Songwriter Roberta Flack, wrote the song “Killing Me Softly” about Don McClean. ..”They said he had a good song, they said he had a style, and so I went to see him to listen for awhile”. One of the most prettiest songs ever written!….SanJoséBob
