LOL. The organ sounds too tiny for this piece. Well-done though on the part of the organist; you work with what you have.

This is proof that one does not need the full-blown orchestra to do this song justice. Marvelous work.

Enjoyed this. Thank you. The venue caught my attention and after digging found out about this beautiful 1540’s Tunstall chapel and also the 11th century Norman chapel. How awesome to have two such special places of worship & music at your university.

Bravo! Ich hätte schwören können, dass die Wachsfigur vorne unten rechts sich bewegt hätte - aber vermutlich bloß panpsychisches Zeug.

Lovely! Well done.Ignore the purists and sing the Vivats!

I admire your love of this, but you should not be singing the vivats.

Why not? The service was two days ahead of the coronation.
@Bumble2000 Жыл бұрын
@@MS-19 Precisely. It wasn't the coronation and you are not the Scholars of the School of Westminster!

Neither are they the choir of King's College Cambridge - but if they were to perform Howells' Collegium Regale settings in a service of Matins, Eucharist or Evensong, would you object? There is no law against using the Vivats in Parry's setting if performed on an occasion other than the Coronation. Granted, they can be omitted and most choirs omit them for general use, but they are published; ergo, use of them at a service marking the Coronation or its anniversary is not inappropriate.

@@MS-19 Well, just a shame you don't respect the Monarchy and reserve these things for the times, places and people that make important occasions so special for us all.
@MS-19 Жыл бұрын
@Bumble2000 By that argument, the National Anthem should not be sung in the absence of the Monarch - yet it is, regularly, and includes the words "Long live" - which, in Latin, translate as "Vivat." If you still believe that it is disrespectful to acclaim the monarch in absentia, perhaps you should take issue with Westminster Abbey, which published the newly amended Vivats for use by church and chapel choirs "if they wish" at services over the weekend of the Coronation. Do you think it was disrespectful of them so to publish?
