Interested in these because I had a relative who was married to a Swiss man in the late 1800s and early 1900s. I wonder if he ever had any traditional foods sent to him?! I know that some of his relatives visited him, perhaps they brought some of these things, or the ingredients with them. By the way he was a lovely person, much loved and remembered by our family.

It depends on the region you come from, the mixture of gruyère and vacherin is used in the moitié-moitié (half/half) fondue, but everybody has their liking for their own mix of cheeses. For instance, I like to use 1/3 gruyère, 1/3 Tilsit and a third Appenzeller, other times I will use vacherin. I'm from Valais. Friend from Zurich is using another mix.
