Does it have to be a certain type of tree? It just a fresh cut tree?

You could harvest it from a live tree like the Indians did then you don’t have to kill the tree

You can remove bark from trees without chopping them down. If you avoid going entirely around the tree, it will most likely be fine.

One video and you have earned a new subscriber. Will be sharing this with our young troops. I can already hear my eleven-year-old saying, "Dad, this guy is hardcore." We have tuna in cans, we have lots of rice and we have sticks from the nearby mango and guava trees. This will be a great new test, perhaps we can also try canned sardines in olive oil. Watching from our secret retirement location in Bulacan province on Luzon island in the Philippines

As a kid I would always go to a river next to a forest and I started making bow and arrows using rope I crafted from the trees and then I find a nice curved big stick and I started tying the strings tight on the stick and I made the arrow but then I went to the river and I pulled off one of those layered rocks from the river that was wet and easy to break and then I started smashing these 2 rocks that I broke in half from the river thing and then I kept smashing it until I get a pointy end and then I just started sanding it down with another rock and then I got a stick started tying the arrow head on it and boom the arrow worked

Get a nice straight stick and bend it when you string it. I would cut a hickory sapling and cut away what wasn't a bow. Too bad no one around me knew how to make cord from my hickory sapling bark Jeeze, I just realized that. More childhood trauma from fifty years ago. Thanks not so happyhay one.
