So I know this demo is a little awkward. I had my son running it and this machine was pretty unfamiliar to him. Also we need to build a wired remote for it. It's pretty hard to see what your doing at the control station.

I have come across many older 280xp chippers for sale with a single axle. Were they ever under 10,000lbs? Their website is now saying 14,000lbs which is a crazy jump from one size smaller 255xp at 8,200lbs.
@CalTreeEquip8 күн бұрын
If its a single axil it has to be under 10klbs. But that means it has a smaller engine. All the 6 cyl diesel are over 10klbs and dual axil.

I believe Morbark makes a kit that can be bought but I would recommend you fabricate something. The main parts are the tank and brackets, the pump and the atomizers. The high tech and expensive controller is completely unnecessary. I have used tanks and brackets I could sell you. And the other parts I can tell you where to get them. But maybe contact Morbark and see what they sell the setup for. Bandit might also offer something.

@@CalTreeEquip it’s still going strong. That chipper eats 14” trunks , granted not all day long. You may recall that the fellow who traded it in was complaining that it overheated and that was a problem for me - the heart of that problem was it needed new radiator fins and new inner cooler fins, which was a “recore” deal and pricey - however such is equipment. There has been a fair amount of patches put on the wear spots from chip abuse and angel grinding on the interior. For a season we had bad clogging issues but that was due to a poor patch at the transition zone on the chute. Basically I’ve enjoyed the chipper the majority of the time. As you know little wet leaves are trouble….We added metal to the outside of the throw scoop paddles so that there is very little lost fan propulsion and that made it throw better. Other companies have had some envy over my machine. So, it’ not ugly or pretty it’s just a workhorse. We’ve tried to take care of it and fix the problems, and I have made good money with it. The starter was replaced recently, but it may have been original. I think it’s a 2010 machine ? I really agonized in research and prayer to come to that machine and i don’t regret it. As much as I’d like shiny new drum chipper the 250 keeps getting it done. Winch line is a complete essential now. Take Care!

@@dano7189 Good to hear its all good. Ya the weak link on those 3054T's is the radiator. The fins are just too small and clog easily. Re-coring them with wider fins is the trick and keeping them really clean. Found the original video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/noO7d3WQh89jq6ssi=lOBkj6YtdTxIgi20

That’s an xp because of the shorter feed rollers
@CalTreeEquip8 ай бұрын
You asking a question? The HP is simply a heavier version of the XP. Larger engine, clutch, bearings, exc. Especially in the 18" series. If a chipper weighs over 10,000 lbs it requires commercial license to move. Most 18" to 20" chippers have a lite and heavy version.
@CalTreeEquip8 ай бұрын
That's a 15" X 60' whole White Fir log. Yes the belts are squealing but there is a reason for that. You don't want to over tighten you drive belts because it is hard on the PTO bearings. The Auto Feed is typically set for moderate wood not max capacity wood. You can see this as the log progresses from max capacity (15") down to maybe 12". If you plan on chipping the max then reset the Auto Feed so it turns off of sooner,. In this case maybe 2200 rmps rather than 2000. Otherwise manually operate the infeed until you get to smaller wood. I will reset the Auto Feed if I'm chipping a bunch of big wood but leave it at factory settings most the time because that is where it chips best. Having said that I'll probably set this one at 2100 rpms. So why didn't I do that in this video? This was a test and I managed it by myself so only had one hand free. It just show how incredibly useful these chippers are.
@jmontana35778 ай бұрын
How many rmps is normal
@CalTreeEquip8 ай бұрын
I think 2600 rpms in the max constant running. They are generally tuned to 2500 but I recommend you set them at a rate that is efficient for the type of chipping you do. The lower your rmp's the less fuel you'll burn and the easier it is on the engine. So if you mostly chip brush and rarely chip sizable wood you can set it at 2400 or 2300 and you won't notice a difference in chipping speed. But if you the max power because you are always chipping big wood you'll want to set it at 2550 or even 2600. I get machines in here that are set at 2000 (same Kubota engine) to save fuel.
