Thank you, I just got a bag of this from Temu and thought it looked less brittle than plaster and air dry clay and it could be uses in miniature dioramas/doll houses. I was looking for a video about it and you told mw everything I needed to know. I'm going to use it in moulds for various things from faux plaster architectural decorations to crockery and miniature food. I don't get on with polymer clay so this looks likes a good alternative. I subbed because you never know when you may need advice from other craftspeople. I also got some of the nail art transparent resin (UV) clay which I don't know much about but saw someone make little mushrooms with lights inside around a black resin pool. It was really effective and I thought it may work well in projects where you want a more translucent effect. I think the channel was called Tea and Art or vice versa, her project looked really amazing.

Well thank you for watching and subbing! I don’t churn out lots of videos but I do my best to ensure the ones I do put out are helpful to at least someone! There will be more on the way that you may like. I agree there are many great creators out there sharing brilliant tips to help increase our knowledge! They inspire me too. UV resin is a fun, versatile option and you’ll find lots of crafters making all sorts with it - Daniel Cooper is a good shout for that! Finally, I’d recommend sourcing somewhere locally to buy this medium in bulk as it will work out cheaper but this was indeed a great option for experimenting with or just for fun. Thanks again for watching and taking the time to comment!

That’s bizarre! My main go-to for Eco resin now (and you’ll find some of my videos here on my channel) is Eli-Chem Resins and I know thay deliver worldwide. But you’d be better off buying in bulk as it works out cheaper per gram. Otherwise, you’ll also find my videos on “cheap” eco resins from Temu - again, it’s pretty much the same stuff and handy if you just want to buy a small pouch here and there to try out. Otherwise I’m surprised there are no specific brands of eco resin you can access within the US, there has to be someone somewhere. Joanne’s? Michael’s? Aren’t they the big brand craft stores over there?

If you do get into it, it does seem more cost effective to buy the more established brands (here in the UK I go with Aquacast by Eli-Chem Resins) and order in bulk as it works out cheaper per kilo.

Hi Rob, thanks for the video, just wanted to say that the price of this product is actually quite high, it's not cheap at all. At £ 7.19 for 453 grams, this equates to £ 15.87 per kg which is very high for an Eco Resin. Our AquaCast ( by the way thanks for your fantastic review video ) is priced anywhere between £ 5.30 and £ 6.30 per kg ( depending on the pack size you order, and if you redeem a group coupon code or not ). Also we ship free in the U.K next day ( a lot quicker and more convenient than coming all the way from China ! ). Thanks again for your hard work and efforts to produce such informative video content.

Useful video! I would say that I know you keep saying it's an Eco resin but you also said that it didn't come with any documentation and as we all have known China has put out products that were for example, not exactly healthy such as the lead paint on children's toys. So don't trust what's in the bag until you send it to a laboratory and ask them to test it
@artistrobfuller3 ай бұрын
To be fair, most info I've garnered has been from manufacturers that are based here in the UK, who have informed me that it's pretty much all the same stuff but I agree it's a wise stance to be skeptical at least! I don't think that everything coming out of factories from that part of the world is dangerous but there are most certainly outliers, the same could be said for places like South Asia and South America - Something as simple as this though - I'm clearly willing to accept it is above board until more evidence to the contrary becomes available. Most certainly makes for an interesting point of view regardless, so I appreciate the feedback!

This is the only one of the concrete resins I use now. I’ve tried 4 of them and they seem to all be about the same. So might as well go the least expensive route. I do find that unmolding after 30 minutes doesn’t work for me and I’ll usually wait 1-2 hours.
@artistrobfuller4 ай бұрын
That’s interesting re: the de-molding - but I suppose it depends on environment. I use those heat mats you can buy for aquariums and I switch them on when waiting for it to cure and it seems to speed up the process so I can unmold quite quickly. I still leave it for a good 24 hours before waxing etc though. As for the brand, it does seem to work really well for the price! I’m glad I tried it out and it’s good to see others are also enjoying it! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment!

Are you able to cover this product with resin. Would it stick to it
@artistrobfuller4 ай бұрын
I have done so multiple times. The trick is to ensure that the eco resin is abrasive. So if you have an area that you want to layer some resin on, give it a sand to rough it up, then clean any loose remanence with 99% isopropyl (preferably) to ensure there's no dust or debris remaining and then you should be able to successfully adhere resin onto it. Also ensure it is fully cured - ideally a couple of days after making it so that you know all moisture is gone. It's not a 100% guarantee but it's worked for me so far. It also depends on what you want to do. So laying clear resin over some scuffed up eco resin might not be ideal so it'll be better with resin that is tinted with pigment. However, I recently started engraving designs onto my eco resin pieces and experimented with layering some clear resin over it and it worked well as it bonded with the engraved part of the eco resin really well, without me needing to scuff it by sanding it! You can check out my laser engraved eco resin videos on my channel too if you like. Thanks for watching.

That’s great to know, thanks for watching, I’m pleased it helped you as that was the goal! I’d definitely give it a try, especially if starting out but as mentioned in the video I can’t advocate for the long term efficacy of the product as yet plus as someone who wants to use a laser engraver on it, I’ve still opted for a different, more established brand as I know it’s safe to use with my laser. I hope to one day hear back from the manufacturers of this cheaper alternative to confirm it is also safe and then I can do another demo but in the meantime if you want to check out my other videos using Aquacast, you can check out cool it is when it’s engraved too!

Hi, I was going to buy some of this from Temu, but it's expensive. Aqua Cast is around £22 for 3kg and Resin Recreate is £29 for less than 2.5kg x
@artistrobfuller3 ай бұрын
@appleoneill5135 that’s right - it’s a language thing, when I say cheap, I don’t mean on a monetary level, I mean as in a “cheap” (unknown/unbranded) version of eco resin. To me, saying something is cheap doesn’t necessarily mean it cost less, just that it could be of a lower quality. As it happens this Temu stuff worked well so it’s probably the exact same stuff as the branded versions anyway - perhaps even from the same factories! Just different packaging! I suppose my conclusion was that, when it’s on a very low offer when you shop on Temu ( I pad less than £5 for my pack at the time) and you just want to try it out as a newbie, this stuff will hold up well. But I ultimately agree that the better known brands, I use Aquacast from Eli Chem Resins, are more accessible and often cheaper to buy especially when you buy in bulk! Thanks for watching and interacting. I appreciate the feedback.

Hi, thanks for watching, I'm glad you found it informative. It's recommended to use stone top wax to help seal material like this and I believe there is also a liquid/spray you can get that does the same sort of thing. Basically, anything, even from a basic diy store that sells waterproof sealant for porous stone, concrete etc should work fine. You'll sometimes find when you buy the starter kits for products like resincrete or aqua cast or jesmonite, will come with a small sample of wax that you can rub onto the product afterwards so that's something to look out for. I hope that helps!
