Have you ever listened to "Why," the extremely rare Beach Boys instrumental? It can only be found on the 2013 compilation boxset, _Made in California (1962 - 2012)._ I think it's one of Brian Wilson’s underappreciated lost gems.

This is one the weakest things that came out of the "Sunflower" sessions. That they had to revive it for "Keepin' the Summer Alive" in order to get the album up to a half hour long shows how much they were in disarray in 1980.

Apparently the backing track and backing vocals are from 1972 before the group went to Holland, which is insane! Brian’s lead is Love You era but that’s it!

Not quite. The song is based on the same chord sequence as "I'm the Pied Piper". Probably recorded in 1974, in the same sessions as "Child of Winter". The song is a little bit creepy -- Brian sounds like a stalker!
