One of the nicest looking busses on the streets! It annoys me greatly that Omnitrans doesn't have the route number display on the back of their busses.

So generally speaking, the ones that are straight rectangles are diesel, the ones with the hump on the back of the roof are hybrid, and the fully streamlined roof ones are either CNG or EV?

@djpetesake, For the most part, the ones that don't have anything on the roof are diesel. The ones with hump on the back are hybrid or CNG. Generally, the smaller hump is for the battery packs, the larger hump is for the CNG fuel storage tanks. The BRT Plus units (full streamlined, slanted face) can be diesel, CNG, or hybrid, depending on the customer. The fully streamlined version with the standard face are mostly EV, but there are some that are hybrid or CNG, depending on the customer.

#941 and S23 were assigned to Inter County Motor Coach at the time of the recording. EBT, Inc wasn't assigned the S23 until 2012 when Suffolk County reorganized the why they had bid the routes inorder to cut the number of Operators from 6 to technically 3.

@@enolamsamoht You can't really tell from that angle. The D900s had a piece that blocks the view of the front driver windshield, the D901A and D902 don't have that.

If you bought the ticket from the bus, then you don't need to validate it. it's Valid. I only rode the bus from the train station to the Zocodover.

Yes, and most of the buses in the network pass through or near that Avenida Jimenez Station. The intersection of Avenida Caracas and Avenida Jimenez is practically the nexus of the TransMilenio network. Damn near half the fleet passes through there during the peak hours.

The fact that light rail even exists in dallas is stort of a miracle considering the car dependent sprawl and car centered infastructure exists and mucj of the old train routes were torn up for the cars.

Yes, somebody came up with a rapid transit plan from the first days of DART's creation, before the LRT, it was mainly freeway express buses, some of which still survive today. I know some of the routes in the old DART network, haven't really studied the new network nearly as much. It's been a minute since I've last visited Dallas.

It was my friend's idea to ride them as soon as he saw them at Montparnasse...we didn't care where the train ran, it just looked old-school and he wanted to hear those traction motors (knowing that they were built in the 1960s)...

Which I think is a big mistake, as it eliminates an entire market that is now dominated by New Flyer and Gillig. Also the decision to focus more on battery-electric and hybrid-electric buses is a penny-wise-pound-foolish move on their part. Though more cities are pushing for better and larger electric bus fleets, focusing on electric buses basically shuts out smaller transit fleets that do not have the pockets of larger agencies and forces smaller municipalities to shell out more money for buses without a commensurate increase in service, resulting in a sense of wasting valuable taxpayer money.
