New subscriber here. Awesome finds! I had a dress very similar to that Papillion one back in the 90's. Mine was a short version, like tunic length, it had a built-in lining and it had buttons and a lace or embroidery detail at the top if I remember correctly. It was my favorite and I loved wearing it with leggings and lace-up ankle boots! It was so roomy, I actually wore it through my pregnancy in 2000. Love your purple hair, by the way!

I've started just running everything I show and I feel like I make a lot more sales that way. Idk I've only done a couple shows but that's been my experience so far. I've also sold a couple men's items during my womens vintage shows.

Yes, I def feel like just running things is way more effective. I consistently find that many people will not ask for things to be run (or even shown).

I take requests as I go but if I'm not getting them I just run through the rack. I don't preload my shop, so I feel like people are more willing to stay longer

What a cool fun haul!! I would definitely give in to the feeling of missing out and go back, probably multiple times. Storing and shipping these is a nightmare but it's so hard to care about that when you're in the thick of picking. $10 entry fee to take what you want; amazing!! What part of NJ was this in?

may i suggest trying on some of the clothes, more facial and body expressions, and maybe a day in the life video where you take the audience with you to estate sales, and depending on the audience you seek ... more. You need to build up an audience and you are certainly photogenic enough to di it.

I feel you 😢 I was thinking about doing a show on WhatNot. But there's so much shows, competition. I just had my 2nd Live Show on the other platform, didn't do well 😪. I feel like, I'll stick on posting, selling the traditional way. Live Show, drained you too much. Frustrating and hopeless after no sales. Next day, I need to express myself to my husband my frustration. I'm overwhelmed with my inventory plus I have a full time job. Reselling is a side hustle plus thrifting a hobby. It can definitely take time to grow on Whatnot. And I feel like womens vintage clothing is one of the easier categories still (though womens y2k seems more saturated, I think?). I haven't tried Posh, because I don't sell on there anymore. I have HEARD that its easier to make money in live sales on Posh, but I believe that applies to more modern categories. As you can see, I ALSO am overwhelmed with my inventory. 😂. Its definitely a danger of reselling. Live shows can be draining even if you enjoy the performative aspects of it.

I definitely want to get to this place. The way I manage stuff right now makes this not very possible - but I am working on it. I agree that its a really good way to do some good marketing for my show. (I would explain more, but its a long tedious list of stuff about my disorganized brain and that could be its own video🤣)

It’s hard! One of the things I have to remember about WN is that lots of those sellers have WAREHOUSES, and they can afford to make decent monetary offers and get private buying appointments. I am storing things in my bedroom and relying on thrift stores. 😂

I feel like I still need to get the gist of when to use IT versus the carbona. Part of the problem I have is that most of my color bleed happens during long soaks. And I can’t seem to soak stuff long enough to get stains out without also having color bleed. I think the “sitting still” in water doesn’t help either. It lets the color settle back in to the wrong spots.

You could try spraying it down with cheap vodka. It may also help a lot to let it hang outside for a day or two, especially if you think it can sit in the sun. It does more than just “air out”, it can help so much!

I ordered mine on Amazon, I think, but you can also try Dharma Trading Co. They do a ton of dyes and textile related stuff. I just learned today about a product they have called Professional Textile Detergent, which seems to be a less expensive version of synthrapol.
