Going of the latest advert this is just for ethnics. Not one white person present. Probably puts a lot of people off giving due to the marketing.

The Christmas Dinner in the advert was ruined by the terrible looking gravy.......hope it taste better than it looked..

This year we expect to be helping over 6,000 people who are homeless, but I'm sorry the gravy doesn't look good on your TV.

I am reluctant to post.this; I lost everything after an accident work related,as self-employed,and not insured. Years and years without a home,work income! Gratefull to helping Friends and Family. I have work again,insured,paying My debts. Still without,My own place(will happen soon!) There is something special for Me with this song. Raised in Music,I was in the situation,to meet Ralp. Not important. I wish I could duplicate this song in The PaulusKerk(church) in Rotterdam. They helped Me ! I have to fight,because My health is not so well. Never give up! Allways be kind! Kind regards, Rene Rotterdam The Netherlands

Nice ad. Black man. Muslim woman. I didn't notice. Did you also have a disabled person there for multiple woke points?

So glad you enjoyed our advert. Thank you! Bear in mind that some people have invisible disabilities so it's not possible to say whether anyone in the advert was living with a disability.

LYRICS: Have you seen the old man In a closed-down market? Kicking up the paper With his worn out shoes In his eyes, you see no pride And held loosely at his side Yesterday's paper Telling yesterday's news So, how can you tell me you're lonely? And say for you that the sun don't shine? Let me take you by the hand And lead you through the streets of London Show you something to make you change your mind Have you seen the old girl Who walks the streets of London? Dirt in her hair And her clothes in rags She's no time for talking She just keeps right on walking Carrying her home In two carrier bags So, how can you tell me you're lonely? And say for you that the sun don't shine? Let me take you by the hand And lead you through the streets of London I'll show you something to make you change your mind In the all night café At a quarter past eleven Same old man Sitting there on his own Looking at the world Over the rim of his teacup Each tea lasts an hour And he wanders home alone So, how can you tell me you're lonely? Don't say for you that the sun don't shine Let me take you by the hand And lead you through the streets of London Show you something to make you change your mind Have you seen the old man Outside the seaman's mission? Memory fading with The medal ribbons that he wears In our winter city The rain cries a little pity For one more forgotten hero And a world that doesn't care So, how can you tell me you're lonely? And say for you that the sun don't shine? Let me take you by the hand And lead you through the streets of London Show you something to make you change your mind

Wow.. This made me, an old man, cry. I watched this 😢in May 2024, 50 years after singing it in primary school (folk singing with Mr Hall). It is sad to think that we, as a country haven't done a tap about homelessness. We would rather help a dog to get a home than a person.. We need to take a good look at ourselves l

Maybe its not a bad idea. If homeless people cannot afford to pay a hefty fine, then maybe a prison sentence will get them off the cold damp streets into a warm cell with a t.v and 3 sq meals a day...??

What persecution did he flee and is this better or not?
@crisishomelessness9 ай бұрын
Hi - we can't share more of Manoel's story than he is willing to include in the video but the persecution he faced in his own country meant his life was in genuine danger.
@OnTheBall9 ай бұрын
I understand that, what I don't understand is that he's got a roof over his head, I know homeless people who'd love his place, homeless veterans too. What exactly does he want and is there a country he could go to that would supply it?
@crisishomelessness9 ай бұрын
There are nearly a quarter of a million people in the UK experiencing homelessness. 93% of them are in unsuitable temporary accommodation like Manoel. Temporary accommodation means not being able to plan or live your life, not knowing where you'll be sleeping next or how people can contact you (e.g. for job interviews). Most of us want a stable home where we can be safe, stay healthy and get on with living our lives. People facing homelessness are no different.
@OnTheBall9 ай бұрын
Yes they do face differences, they don't get looked at, I've been there, I'm struggling to see what more he wants, will he not want to go home when it's safe to do so?
@crisishomelessness8 ай бұрын
Yes he might - Manoel left family behind in order to escape the groups who wanted to kill him.

There are different types of homelessness. I once had to stay in a place that was designed for people who lost their homes for a month or so. Most of the people there were working, others were unable to because of their mental condition or addictions. Those who had slept out on the street said it was because they did not know there were alternatives or they were ashamed. The important thing is that in my country, everyone who lost their home and asks for it and has registered in a place before is getting a place to sleep, even if it's not the most desirable and homely place. You get a shared bathroom and shared kitchen with random people and likely also have to share a room with strangers. There are also people that are homeless because they developed a fear of staying inside, people who did not register anywhere or are on the run, people who chose to live outside and make their living with begging instead of working too. My take away from that time was that in my country, I should not encourage people to stay outside there by giving them some pocket money. They are better off seeking change, and by extending their time outside I would only harm them. It is important to have street workers out there to show people a way out and places for people to stay until they found a place of their own and a place to work, that is what you should invest in if you truly want to make a difference. Even if such places and services are available, there will be people that might actually be helped if you just not allow them to live like this, so I am somewhat conflicted about it.
