I want to buy a drum slinger but I’m not sure if it will ship? Will it ?
@DennisJohnsonDrummer
@DennisJohnsonDrummer Ай бұрын
My experience with Bill Olsen is that it will indeed ship. I own three Drumslingers and have had no issues whatsoever with receiving the products. Most are custom pads unless you order one that is already made and is available, so it will take longer to receive your pad when compared to a pad that you buy from a "ready-made" company. Hope this helps your decision.

I own two Drumslinger pads and use them both daily. There were some delivery issues a couple of years ago due to a death in the family and then a serious illness. Pads are back in production and turnaround runs 4 to 6 weeks on most models. If you can’t wait that long, reach out to Bill about any of the “ready to ship” pads available on the web site. Those change periodically so keep checking back. I love my Drumslinger pads and think they’re worth every penny.

Why arent the sixes notated
@phoah4936

Because they are technically not sixes, they stay with the 16th note value. Making them sixes would make them be played faster

Just did a deep dive cause I was hearing the same thing. He is playing in his garage with a pad. The ECHO on the accented note kidna reverbs off the garage wall. I had to slow the video down and really listen to the strokes. In between the metronome sounds, and the accent on the paradiddles. The tap just sounds reverbs off the garage wall. it does sound like a Herta or some very quick RLR stroke leading the paradiddle and paradiddle diddle didles...

I am still teaching and will post more videos in the near future. The house we bought needed painting in every single room, so as the painter in the household I am using most of my spare time during the week to roll and brush. Man my hands sure are tired! Ha! Wow, this is so wild that you have a copy of this! I played quads in this line, I was just looking to see if I had an audio file of the full line playing this for you but couldn’t find anything. Crow actually wrote 3 variations of this, this is level one, and there were two others that got progressively more insane. He asked me a few years ago if I had the sheet music to all three but sadly I do not. If you do, please let me know and I’d be stoked to pass them along!

I started playing drums in 1970 when I was 10 years old, so I have been playing for quite a while. I had some very good teachers along the way and I also studied in college with great mentors. I have also continued to play throughout my teaching career and have tried to keep up with the latest trends and combinations, so there's the experience factor. Keep striving to improve and most of all have fun while you are doing it.

The shirt is from Peggy Joyce Ruth Ministries. She is a good friend of ours who lives in Brownwood, Texas. Brownwood is a small Texas town in the geographic center of the state of Texas. There is literally a sign located 20 miles outside of Brownwood declaring that fact. We stopped to take a picture of the marker recently, only to find out that the exact center of the state is located over a fence on private property. Anyway, she is a very Godly lady who has many great teachings on her website. I highly recommend them.

Thank You for bringing it back because I definitely have to hit this one HARD. How do you backstick with your traditional grip left hand. I've been doing it for over a year and half now and I've lost touch with match grip. Traditional grip just looks a whole lot COOLER.
@DennisJohnsonDrummer
@DennisJohnsonDrummer 8 ай бұрын
Backsticking with the left using traditional- you actually switch to matched as you turn your hand over. There are two approaches- straight over the top or sideways. I use the straight path method because that was what I was taught and i think it looks cooler. Use the R-R-L triplet Duh-Duh-Puh sticking to rep the left hand backsticking.

Man, just the art of learning your instrument takes a lot of HARD WORK and discipline and unlike artists in the music industry nowadays that just want to depend on drum machines and samplers to make them sound good or make the music for them, it takes the GIFT from God to make something out of NOTHING and be a genius in every aspect of music just like Prince was. The reason why I am bringing this up because I was watching a documentary on the origin of hip hop and what DJ's do to rock a party and there is only so much that samplers and scratching can do especially when you're into playing instruments and I see why Prince hated rappers and other artists sampling his music during his industrious career.
