I probably wouldn't pay 100 per hour for a " handyman ". Most people wouldn't pay that but would be more inclined to hire you on a estimate for all the work on a contract basis. I owned a remodeling company for almost 40 years so I know what I'm talking about.

Question in California when you are not a manager so you clock in and out. I get a draw and payback with my commissions.. well then now they invented a threshold where it equals to the hours and premium pay exactly.. so now they take my hours as well. Is that legal?
@JoshuaReeves-t8i12 күн бұрын
In the state of Florida there is no electrical work ( Ie fans, lights , power) legally allowed to be done by anyone who doesn’t hold an electrical contractor license. This includes maintenance to electrical equipment and or service to outlets ..

If you offer commission only, expect to have aggressive sales tactics, which may not align with your branding. Don't hire a salesperson unless you know how to market and sell your own products, expecting that they will is foolish and hurts everyone.

No. You think you’re cool. Everyone knows where they need to be financially. Quit with your wannabe alpha energy. It’s transparent 😂. If you know tax and management, you are good.

honestly...this is just corpo crapper talk. we really are worth more than what we are being given. theres a reason less and less of us are choosing construction. be real. all because your paying us less doesnt mean it was rightful. all because there is a cause and an effect doesnt mean its trajectory is honest. this opening 2 minutes of you talking is setting the stage for some boss who doesnt deserve you. its literally just corpo jargon trash. fuck this. 9 out of 10 of you working in construction couldve just become a coder instead. dont break your back and dont get paid for physical labour and instead get paid on your time for your brains. the only boss of you is of your deciding and its temporary. plus you make more money as a coder. you save your health(albeit not many coders are healthy but if your from a physical background you can be different). besides its not nerdy if you dont look the part. if your initial background was something physical even if you now do coding your not likely to be picked out of a crowd as some nerdy coder anyway. so its a win win for you. whose to tell your a coder anyway?

I’ve owned and operated a handyman business for 7 years now and I started out charging hourly at $55 an hour and thought I’d be doing well. Yeah 7 years later I quote every job and average between $150-$250 per hour while on the job. You can not run a business especially as an owner operator charging hourly at under 100. I always give free quotes. You charge whatever you feel and they say yes or no. One day a week for quotes. 4 days a week for $1000-2000 per day.

Commission only jobs for sales are almost always scams. A sales person is either good or not. No amount of “opportunities” to make money is going to change that perception. If the person is motivated to sell and make money they will sell regardless of you pay them 20k,50k,90k or 120k plus commission. One of the best sales person I know in the supply chain industry who is a Director of Business development is making close to 1.5 million per year in commissions with a base salary of 200k. I got to meet this guy at a Presidents club event as I was the top Sales person in my group vertical. I also got to meet people that were in his vertical group that pretty much are all 6 figures plus commission which I wasn’t part of that as my salary was much lower than that. The funny thing is that out of the 220 sales people that were there representing top sales of our organization, only 40 of them were Director of Business Development with high salaries and the rest were in rental sales and I was the only freight sales. The DBDs made as much revenue as all of non high salaried sales and I genuinely felt they had more confidence, carried themselves better and were happier than the others. My take away is that you pay someone what they are worth “salary” they will perform better. If you hire right then you won’t have to try and do a carrot and stick approach to get a sales person to make money. I quit a 150k plus commission VP of sales position because after I got in the role I realized they didn’t want me to sell but manage and operate a non sales focused team but an operational team. I could have easily have done that coasted but I’m a sales person not an operator even though I’m more than capable of it. I got a new role with a lower salary but still very high and a good commission structure and can’t wait as my whole job is new sales and some account management. I’ll more than make up the gap between my old base salary of previous job and my knew on through commissions I’m going to make and happy that company I work with are paying me well and allowing me to make more through a good commission structure. Sales people don’t need dated carrot and stick non salary positions as those are as old as the home telephone for making phone calls.

What happens if you have to get your own leads on a 50k basement renovation? Canvassing for leads what is the percentage I should get if I’m canvassing and selling the product? Also we sell 4 season sunrooms and I can just canvas for them too but don’t sell it, what should I get if the sales guy sells it?
