Nice! I have heard of that technique, but never seen it done so well. If you are a wingsuiter, you can stick One Wing out and have the wind blow your body in the appropriate direction like a weather vane.

Better yet, pack 'em so they don't twist! 😁
@luiztim3 жыл бұрын
Fast technique - however, it's better to use it only on harnesses equiped with hard housing on main risers. Let me explain why: when you rotate the risers, you transfer the twist from lines to the risers. When you do that, it can twist the cutaway cables as well, in a way that can lock the cutaway handler, not allowing you to chop off the canopy if you need (for instance, if it starts to spin violently)

Are there parachutes without hard housings for cutaway and reserve cables?

I used the stopwatch on my iPhone and I timed her at 24.53 seconds. Florence Griffith Joyner still holds the WR for women's 200 meters 21.34. So Deck is a little over 3 seconds with her time compared with Joyner's WR set back in 1988. Still it's a good time.

I didn't understand that?? He twisted more in the same direction in which it was already twisting?
@seewhyaneyesee4 жыл бұрын
Yes, maybe his intention was to to reach the maximum twist rotation faster? As to stop the twisting faster so he can’t twist back in less time required as opposed to let it twist without intervention... My wild guess though.

Yes, transferring the twist down to his risers where it’s easier to untwist

Very smart idea, will keep it in mind for my AFF. Probably difficult with a wingsuit though. This only works if you react quickly but if you have to unzip your arm wings which will take time and make the twist worse, you’re likely to have to try something else or cutaway.
@mikeferguson48163 жыл бұрын
If you have a wingsuit, and line twists, figure out which direction you need to spin, then stick just One Wing out to spin you in that direction, after you've made a half turn, switch wings to keep the twist going. Works like a charm.

They don't know everything I guess and sometimes it's not easy to introduce new techniques into standard training course.

Because it's not instinctive (albeit much more effective!). For a student, that has to learn a lot of other notions in a panicked moment tends to do what feels more logic. Forgetting the parachute, imagine you're just hanging from a twisted rope, what you would naturally do to untwist it? You will try to rotate in the opposite direction. Luckily internet and youtube exists and more ppl (with more willing to learn) will have the opportunity to see new techniques.

Many skydivers have had similar experiences, or at least close calls (including me: but I was able to hang on and buckle it in free fall). This guy was just unfortunate to lose it. I had a buddy lose a helmet with cam and audible 2 weeks ago. (fortunately just a helmet here). Hopefully others can learn from this "incident".
