Downtown Portland is built on sandy soil, liquefaction will sink the buildings that don't collapse, they definitely need to adjust the numbers.

I saw on some video that there's a power plant on the Oregon coast that supplies a mighty big chunk of the state's power. A tsunami hitting that would be bad news.

17:03 "Even those of Redding and Medford are heading to the likes of Arcata and Brookings" Tell me you know nothing about Humboldt/NorCal without saying you know nothing about Humboldt/NorCal. Our beaches want to kill us, so most don't go in the water. To cool off most of us go to rivers or inland lakes.

The largest earthquake ever recorded was a magnitude 9.5 earthquake that occurred on May 22, 1960, off the coast of southern Chile. The earthquake, also known as the Valdivia earthquake or the Great Chilean earthquake, lasted 10 minutes and occurred at a subduction zone where the Pacific plate meets the South American plate This earthquake generated a tsunami that was destructive not only along the coast of Chile, but also across the Pacific in Hawaii, Japan, and the Philippines. The earthquake was preceded by four important foreshocks, including a Mw 8.2 on May 21 that caused severe damage in the Concepción area and generated a small tsunami. Many aftershocks followed, with five of magnitude 7.0 or greater through November 1. The rupture zone was estimated to be about 1,000 km from Lebu to Puerto Aysen. The number of fatalities in Chile associated with both the earthquake and tsunami has been estimated to be between 490 and 5,700. The Chilean government estimated 2 million people were left homeless and the damage was USD $550 million. In Hawaii, the tsunami caused 61 deaths, 43 injuries, and USD $23.5 million in damage. Additional damage of USD $1 million, 2 deaths, and 4 injuries resulted on the U.S. west coast from 1-2 m waves. The tsunami hit the Pacific coast of Japan almost a day after the earthquake causing 139 deaths and destroying or washing away almost 3,000 houses in the Hokkaido, Aomori, Iwate, and Fukushima Prefectures. Waves observed in Japan were higher than other adjacent regions nearer to the source due to the directivity of tsunami wave radiation. At least 21 people died in the Philippines due to the tsunami. This is the largest earthquake ever instrumentally recorded and the global extent of this tsunami led to the creation of the International Tsunami Warning System of the Pacific (ITSU) in 1965.

I live north of Seattle, the infrastructure isnt up to just normal, we pay taxes, modern standards. If an earthquake 7.0 hits, it will destroy everything from Portland to Canada, everything is old and outdated here, to many bridges even just rural 2 lane ones.

The only way to prepare for a 9+ earthquake is to not be there. Humans cannot win over nature during an event this catastrophic. More attention needs be given to building tsunami platforms for all those living within a few kilometers of the beaches. If Cascadia does the big rip, there won't be much time to react before the water comes.

My senior class project was with the Portland Water Department less than 10 years so. They discussed what would happen to the water supply due to this expected earthquake. They were very dire. Said we need water and supplies for SIX MONTHS. And even then they said that might not be enough (we would need many years probably). They said those of us on the Westside of Portland are basically S.O.L. They said we all needed to warn our loved ones, bc it was only a matter of time. They said they cannot repair the old pipes fast enough. There will be no water at all for us out here. They said that is the plan, bc they cannot prepare effectively fast enough. Just so everyone knows, they are not planning to help us really. It will be every man for himself.

Bro, the size of earthquakes does not end in 9s just because we haven't seen it in our history. There is coming something much worse where the entire N. American landmass heaves westward by several hundred feet and propagates tsunamis of over 1,000 feet in height. I tell you this because I've seen it in an Out of Body Experience. An OBE is the same as a NDE and NOTHING like a dream. Look where the landmass broke away from the others and has traveled across the plate creating the Atlantic ocean. Sea floor spreading at a fingernail's growth rate over millions of years is mistaken information (or a lie). The oceans come across the lands and we'll likely see this in our lifetime. You've been warned with truth.

Great tour of the Cascades. But... At Crater lake you have Annie creek that comes out of the south wall and flows too Klamath lake. Also water seeps out to creat the north Umpqua, and the Rogue river. If it didn't the lake would fill too the rim and spill over the edges.

Yeahhhh I am really terrified.....of nothing. The cities in the PNW are not on the coast. Japan however has cities on the coast. And with the looting in Seattle and Portland what damage could be caused by an earthquake?
