This is a cool video. Is there a date for 2025 for pismo? I have a buggy to attend with. Love to show up with my father

Hello , I enjoy your videos .. I have a new yellow buggy too. Same tow bar set up as well.. So you would give that tow bar a thumbs down for a long drive? I dont have a flat bed trailer and Id love to tow it behind my suv to Big Bear etc. I'm scared the turning radius thing could be an issue..

Once I saw the Myers DB with the side pods then looking at them without the pods I just don't think it looks complete like the pods really make it look special but I suppose when the people that build their own must get buggy fever and just tell themselves that they can add the pods later but never do and drive it as is.

I’ve grown up with seeing them without pods so I guess I’m used to seeing them without and prefer them that way now.

@@justjoshin209 Well being that they're liable to be damaged from road debris it is one less headache to replace or repair.

I like the book. But it has a European bent and does not cover 90 % of the American manufacturers. That being said I absolutely love the pictures and the old advertisements. I have a California Clipper buggy and love it, how ever it is/was poorly manufactured and I have added significant reinforcement. Early on in my dune buggy ownership I became frustrated with the low amount of info about buggy’s. I started buying up old copy’s of Dunebuggies the fun car journal, I have managed to collect all of them, which became Hot VW’s. They are a great read and for me a window back into my youth. I really enjoy your videos as they are very well done!

Looks great. Looks like you have 8” steeliest on the rear I think . Are the fronts 6” or 7? Nice upgrade.

Nice buggy! Good Vid. I've been flat towing my fiberglass buggy as well as my Baja for a couple years now with no problems if I keep the speed below 60 mph. I use the magnetic LED trailer light kit from Harbor Freight. About $30 when on sale. Since I have a aluminum package tray on the back I did not have anything the magnet would stick to. I got two 4inch metal electrical box covers and mounted those to the aluminum plate with a 1/4 - 20 eye bolt which gives me an extra tie down hook. The lights could be mounted high on your surf board rack. Just need to be visible. The light kit came with a flat 4 plug which will plug into your Tahoe trailer connector. They have all kinds of plug adapters if you need that. Be sure and use safety chains in a X pattern in case something goes wrong. The highway patrol will nail you if you don't have the chains while towing. I just loop it over the top axle beam and put a bolt and nut on it. then use the hitch safety chain bracket on the car. I also tow my Baja and just stick the tail lights to my roof. It seems to do fine on corners and hitting pot holes. I've been thinking of getting a back up camera to mount on the rear of my travel trailer because I tow it behind that. It's legal to double ball where I live. I can't even see the car behind the trailer. Been doing this for several thousand miles and plan on continuing that this year. Hope you get lots of smiles to the miles.

Hey thanks for all the info! I do run a safety chain but I’m not sure I’m using it correctly? I’ll have to look into that!

Do you have caster shims on the front beam? They help stability at hiway speeds and will fix your towing issue with the wheels wanting to stay pointed straight. Adds more positive caster.

Rough ride? If your tires are inflated to whatever it says on the sidewall it's too much for a light weight buggy. Start with the recommended pressures for a stock beetle.
@justjoshin2096 ай бұрын
You are absolutely right! My tires were way over inflated!

I just taught my son to do this very thing a few months back - needless to say, he jumps on the opportunity to drive my rail buggy (which will be his) anytime he can! The smile on his face says that he enjoys it. Great build!

In the UK we would fit a ‘trailer board’ to the rear of the towed vehicle (with bungee cords etc) and plug it’s electrical connection into the electrics on your SUV’s towing assembly. That way the board displays your SUV’s brake/running lights and your indicators. That will save you having to mount, wire and remove etc every time you tow the buggy. I’d recommend googling UK trailer boards and checking out what it comes up with.

Like the look of the grabbers, mine needs new tires as I bought them in 1980. They have good tread, but they are probably not safe Back then I went with 10-15 tracker AT's and a couple of 195-75-15 on the front. I always felt the 10-15's were a little too big.
