Rumi and other misguided sufies were influenced by the same people who invented judaism and Christianity (the original message that was given to Moses and Jesus "peace be upon them" commanded us to worship one God and do good deeds, which is similar to the eternal message that was given to all of the prophets of Allah including Mohammed peace be upon all the Prophets and Messengers of Allah. But, a mixed group of jews, Persians magicians and Hindus got together and conspired to worship the devil in order to gain worldly prominence. They have established a demonic cabal aiming to control the world through corrupting its inhabitants! Rumi does not represent Islam and the message that was revealed in the Quran. Sufies invented their numerous corrupt ways to reach Allah Almighty, but there is only one way to worship Allah, that way was revealed to his Messengers thru the the Holy ghost "The archangel Gabriel" peace be upon him. Read the Quran, the last Testament, you owe it to yourself to search for the truth, cuz there is so much at stake, your eternity!

Being in the moment is painful too, unless you are a "Wali of Allah". To me, being "wali" means fully surrendering oneself before Allah and accepting His will and His power. This is very hard-to-achieve state, and it is also not permanent. Can't say anything beyond my experience and little knowledge.
