Hi hope you well, we fine too , i forgot to ask u something with regarding to chicken , i took out my chicken fillets from my freezer on 25/7/24 & i put in microwave to soften up on 25/7/24 assumin il need all but i used portion only an the remaining chicken i put in fridge on 25/7/24 , i supposed to use the leftover but i was pressed for time so i never used an now its obviously the 26/7/24 & my fillets are in my fridge still on 26/7/24 so wats best option to refreeze? or keep in fridge an use as is ?
@JudiintheKitchen6 сағат бұрын
If you use the chicken right away (today), it should be fine. If you won't be using it today, put it back in the freezer. But, if you put it back in the freezer, next time you use THAT same piece of chicken, be sure to use it right away and not let it linger in the refrigerator for any amount of time/days. You don't want to take any chances of getting food poisoning from spoiled chicken! I'm glad to hear all is well with you and yours! Thanks for asking, Mehjabeen :) I hope this helps!

I've been getting a whole lot of vegetables from the farmer's market lately and I can't get them all into the crisper drawers in the fridge, so I've been using plastic bins with lids on them to try to imitate the function of the crisper drawers. Should I keep the lids cracked open, shut or maybe try a different method to store the vegetables?
@JudiintheKitchen6 сағат бұрын
The plastic bins are a good tactic! I use them all the time for storing extra greens. I normally line the container with either paper towels or a clean cloth, on the bottom and top. That helps to keep moisture from accumulating in the container (keeping the greens from sitting in water), while keeping a humid environment. My greens keep well that way. With the absorbent material in the tubs, you can close the lids all the way. Use them as quickly as you can to have the freshest greens possible. Thanks for watching and asking! Best wishes to you :)

How is your dry eyes? Is the alternative working for you? You can email me for privacy.
@JudiintheKitchen23 сағат бұрын
My eyes are fine...thank you for asking! I used the vegan (algae-based) EPA/DHA supplements for years, but have recently started eating a lot of ground flaxseeds and chia seeds instead. As long as I eat plenty of them (and don't eat them at the same time I eat anything heavy in omega-6 fats), my eyes do very well and I'm not bothered like I was with teary, dry eyes. It's important to separate food sources of omega-3s away from foods rich in omega-6's because there is one enzyme that processes both of the parent compounds, and it preferentially processes the omega-6's first. As long as they are kept separate, the body can readily process the omega-3s. Thanks for watching and asking! I hope this helps! Best wishes to you, especially if you suffer from dry eyes :)

@@JudiintheKitchen I am afraid to get off the Restatis for dry eyes, but it encourages me that you have. Do you remember what supplements you took?
@JudiintheKitchen4 сағат бұрын
@@phillycg1 To be clear, I have never taken any prescribed drugs for dry eyes. Initially, my eye doctor said to try a warm wet wash cloth pressed in the corners of my eyes, to help unclog any ducts. That did nothing for me. I ventured on my own from there. Regarding supplements, I NEVER took fish oil and don't recommend them. I only took algae supplements of DHA/EPA. THAT'S where the fish get their omega 3's from. If you look in the description box under the video, you'll see a list of suggested supplements. Actually, I've taken then all and found the same results from any of them, believe it or not! I always took the recommended amount on the bottle, usually 2 capsules a day. Because I got the same results, I let price be my guide. ZenWise brand was usually the cheapest. I've since switched to including a lot of flax and chia seeds in my diet...usually blended into smoothies. Nothing wrong with the supplements, but I'm just opting for the seeds now, instead. I hope this helps! Best wishes to you :)

Judi I’ve just started to crush up sunflower seeds to sprinkler over my dog’s food. Should I crush them up once daily or can I get away with once a week and storing them for a while?
@JudiintheKitchen3 күн бұрын
I believe you could get away with crushing them up in advance. BUT I would either store the crushed seeds in the refrigerator or freezer (in an airtight container or freezer bag). If you choose to store them in the freezer, you could freeze them in ice cube trays before transferring them to a bag or container, then you could take our how many "lumps" you would need in a day, and place them in a covered container in the refrigerator to allow them to thaw some so they can be broken apart. No matter what, i would not store them at room temperature. The oils may go rancid much easier than if they were left whole. I hope this helps! Take care and pet your dog for me :)

One of the best tomatoes I have ever grown and they last a long time on the counter which has given them the ability to be shipped and sold in stores. If you find either the Kumato or the Adora tomato in your local grocery store, you can save the seeds and grow them yourself next season.

I live "off the grid" so it's a 2 hour round trip to the store. I only go out once every 10 to 12 days. My greens only last about 7 days. I do exactly what you said and I throw out 50% of my greens. The only thing that lasts is red cabbage and onions.

Thanks for watching and sharing! I don't think there's a lot you can do to overly extend the life of your leafy greens beyond a week. The only alternative that I can think of would be to grow your own. Since you're off the grid, if you're in a colder climate, perhaps a greenhouse with a solar panel or at least a roof that allows sunlight in during the colder months may do the trick. I hope this helps!

What can I do to remove the lemon’s sourness from my marinated fish

Is it possible to add baking soda to it…
@JudiintheKitchen5 күн бұрын
@@rajnandini-y8j Oh my! That IS a dilemma! It's tough for me to answer this one because I'm not sure how the fish was prepared. If you added to much lemon to a SAUCE that goes on the fish, then adding a pinch of baking soda to the sauce may do the trick. But, if the lemon was drizzled on the fish, then adding baking soda would really be tricky. In that case, just diluting it with some water and any other seasonings that were used on the fish may help. I might be able to help more if you shared how the fish was prepared. Sorry I can't offer more, but I need more info. Thanks for watching; take care :)

I went to the Wellness psychic fair. Some older women & man displayed leek pies which looked like meat pies anyways I think it had potato in it too etc. The presentation was so amazing it looked like at first she had candy or gum drops bc the pies she cut in the middle so once I knew what it was, I was impressed. She was selling them for 4.00 or 4.00 & some. Thats my first time eating a leek. My friend bought 2 for me and him but I should have bought some to take home for myself, family and friends. If I ever see the couple again since they go to places to sell, I’ll have to buy some. So I hope to see them in the near future. They do have their own small business & are also on Fb. Being at the fair was truly an amazing experience & to also have talked & met such amazing people especially the couple who had shared their beautiful love story on how they’ve met. I do hope to see them & others I’ve meet someday. Anyways I’ve never bought a leek before so I was thinking it was some type of potato etc but then when I bought them, I realized it looks like a huge green onion. And when I made a new vegan recipe with that in it, I was very impressed. So I was looking for a video, & that’s when I clicked on you. I heard the term grits before, but not sure if I knew the meaning but if I did google what it was, I probably forgotten what it meant but when you mentioned it in the video about the grit, I didn’t know what it was but learned quickly until I seen the dirt, I realized ahhhh that makes sense. So I thought no one wants to eat dirt. Lol Thanks for your video. I started spreading peas like out in those bags for a while now especially incase I need to use them for an injury so then I started doing that with all the veggies. It makes it so much easier but didn’t know anyone else was doing that so that’s cool. I also have loose leaks in the fridge that I want to cut up to put in the freezer since I’ve used some in a new vegan recipe recently but haven’t gotten the chance to do it up yet before they get bad so until I seen this video it got me motivated to do it now, since my show is on pause. Lol Again thanks you. 🙏🏻
@xoxjunemariexox31045 күн бұрын
I also meant to add that, I did read or seen videos about marking the bags with the name of what it is I’m putting in the bag and the date. I just never did it, but I kept thinking lately that I should. I love the smell of leeks as I’m smelling them now. I’m not sure if I smelt them when I first got them, prob did but I love being in the present moment to capture nice smells. It’s just so neat seeing so many layers inside of the leek from your video as I’m truly amazed on the importance of leek as well as other veggies etc Back then I never ate certain things nor did I know the importance of what it can do for our body. The only thing I knew some about was carrots as a kid but I did try in my 20s, 30s to try new things but now I love learning the importance of what I’m buying as well as eating foods I never ate before, or giving other foods that didn’t agree with me another go & eating foods I didn’t like but like now. I did Google about Leeks But I did forget what family they came from until you mentioned it. It’s so amazing what family foods can come from. Also, as I was watching your video, I started thinking, I’ve always wanted to do video of some kind & thought in this situation I wouldn’t have anything new to share but then watching your video, ideas came to my mind. I think It would be so cool to actually have a soft brush to gently brush it in the water to remove the dirt. It could be another fancy easy way to clean it too. I usually call myself werid but I embrace it but others don’t like when I call myself werid, so I say I’m unique & others would imply that I am but I always put them together lol But I don’t know what it is, but call me Uniquely weird as I love to call myself🙂🙃but there’s something about cutting up leeks & green onions that I really enjoy & love like carrots, celery, cucumbers etc Leeks remind me of palms at Easter time. Anyways now I’m wondering if there is anyone else like that that enjoy cutting up leeks & green onions. I’m sure they’re are, since we live in a world with so many unique people who share similar interests like our own.🙂🙃 I just recently yesterday bought green onions. I realized I could’ve used the leeks instead. The other day I was making a recipe and I didn’t have any onions so I used green onions and it tastes good. So it’s good to have something on hand that’s similar to use. It’s also so neat to learn I can also put them in a salad so ty for that information. I also thought when I bought leeks for the first time, I thought wow that’s one giant green onion but it’s a leek. I find leeks much easier to cut bc they are more crunchy & plus with the knife I have, it’s more stubborn when cutting green onions bc green onions can be complicated to cut too at times bc they slide etc but leeks stay in place. I wish I had your chef knife bc I could cut it right away in chunks like you did with one cut. When it comes to onions that make me tear up I didn’t think leek could do the same lol Before I didn’t use that much so it didn’t at that time but since I’m cutting up a lot it did lol Anyways I also knew leaks can be frozen because I’m a googler which I love to do lol but I just didn’t know how to go about the process so thank you for explaining everything. I did read some thing before I seen your video that made me nervous to freeze them. It was talking about defrosting them safely & not defrosting them at room temperature which I’m not sure what they mean, unless they mean leaving them out on counter or fridge for them to be raw again I dunno so I don’t wanna do something wrong or what would happen but as long as I put them in recipes when it’s frozen and if I need it in other recipes that are raw I’ll just keep some in the fridge like you mentioned. But either way; you gave me ease to know that how to freeze them correctly. I’ve also read that it only could be stored for one or two months, but then it also said in the same sentence it can be stored for 6 months too but I’m so thankful that it can be stored longer with your information. I’m always happy when food can last longer. So sorry for the long rant, I didn’t expect it to be a much longer comment then I usually do but yah I’m just passionate about food etc Sending positive vibes your way. Thank you again beautiful soul. 🥰🫶🏻💕

@JudiintheKitchen8 күн бұрын
That's a great question! Overall, steaming is usually the best way to preserve nutrients in any fruit or vegetable that needs to be cooked. I agree that roasting a pumpkin would be far easier to do, and that would be a better choice than boiling it. I would "rank" steaming as the best, baking as second best, and boiling as the least optimal way to cook pumpkin. Thanks for watching and asking! I hope this helps :)
