This is the greatest video on KZbin. And now let all the Kazan lovers hate me for saying that.

2:01 to be fair, this scene makes me laugh every time. Donald Moffat's delivery makes the frustration from his character so real you can't help but laugh.

Orson may have been a brilliant cinematographer, but he didn't know shit about politics and even less about communist infiltration and subversion in Hollywood. Thanks to the Venona decrypts and KGB archival examinations after the fall of the USSR, we now know Sen. McCarthy was right.

Unsurprising that some nonsense spewing pretentious dope like you messes up in the first seven words by referring to Welles as a “cinematographer”

“To defend a secrecy I don't think right and to defend people who have already been named or soon would be by someone else… I hate the Communists and have for many years, and don't feel right about giving up my career to defend them. I will give up my film career if it is in the interests of defending something I believe in, but not this.” GOOD

As Welles himself acknowledges at the end of the clip, so you've really added nothing to the discourse.

This is like taking an edible at the oscars 2025 and ranting about how the AI Revolution "is totally like the future, man" for way too long and then in 50 years a bunch of teenagers see the clip and think "omg he saw into the future.". No... He just read the newspaper or Scientific American like everybody else.

A few, but a lot of them have had their natural appearance altered in ways that help them stand out, or the face is just so recognizable because we’ve seen it so many times as if it was almost a friend or family member. Dafoe just looks like that. Average haircut, pretty standard New York outfit. But the face stands out.
