My 2018 Equinox is giving lots of messages Stablizer, Parking Brake Engaged, Parking Brake Relaesed. Email from Onstar says I have a problem with battery or starter. I went to Auto Zone. They checked both with their machine. It said both are fine. someone said Onstar module was the problem. Im so confused.

@antoniofranqui52584 жыл бұрын
My same issues were cause by a 4 year old battery. what was different, car always started fine but after a few miles errors began to be triggered. I cleared and they would return. These vehicles rely on the battery for stable voltage during immediate power demand surges. Much like a UPS power supply for your PC. If the voltage drops error codes are recorded, low power mode can even be triggered since sensor voltages can be out of range. Another common issue is the ground leads. All ground contact points & cable lugs must be clean and free of corrosion. Bad grounds can cause damaged sensors and devices in the vehicle. Good luck everyone hope this helps some of you.

@brendandoan_4 жыл бұрын
My 2011 Equinox had a dead battery and those same error messages came up because those systems aren't getting enough voltage so they flash the error messages. Replaced the battery and they never came back.

About how many mile was on your car? Mine is doing the exact same thing and I just hit 60000 miles. Was there any way to get it started and drive to a repair place or did you have to have it towed?
@locker1255 жыл бұрын
UPDATE: Managed to start my car took it in for service problem was a leaking battery terminal. Replaced battery, starts like a champ now. Service guy told me leaking batteries can cause the electronics to go haywire and other weird stuff. I noticed the corrosion the night before when I checked the battery with a multi meter and got 12.9 volts which indicates strong battery.

@@locker125 How much did it cost to replace the battery?
@locker1252 жыл бұрын
@@rachelelizabethschneider2974 This happened two years ago in 2019 at the Chevy dealership a new battery cost $137.15 one-year warranty. I live in Florida car batteries don't last long here. Then just this September 2021 the battery died again. Managed to get the car started and went to Auto Zone. Got a 3 year Die Hard Platinum battery for $214.00 tax included and installed. I am keeping a note to replace the battery 2 years from now. Last month the Equinox began stalling and would not stay running. Towed to the dealership the problem was the "Intake Cam Shaft Solenoid Valve" To my surprise this was covered under the Power Trane warranty at 94426 miles. I'm fortunate that all three of these happened at home so I was never stuck somewhere.

Sorry but in my experience that's blow by. If you want to prove it's not blow by. Take your oil cap off again like u did sit it on it like u did don't let it tighten itself and give it throttle the pressure will build inside and blow the cap off. That ain't bad blow by but it is blow by.
@nathan00campbell4 жыл бұрын
actually mine at 400k miles does that, it will not blow the cab off at any rpm, even with the draft tube blocked off.. its oil vapor. i see it even on my dads 2018 6.7 cummins with less than 16k on the clock. now after i get to a stop after several hundred miles of towing (i check my oil at fuel stops buying 100g at a time) it does not do this when everything is good and hot.
@powerstroketurbo954 жыл бұрын
It's blowby but not excessive at all...and revving the motor is not the Official way to measure engine wear.... according to Cummins.

i have a 97 also and look just like that form the oil fill, is this a lot of blowby or normal for them

I am looking at getting a 91 12v . So what I'm getting from your video and others is, that if the cap does not get blown off,That means I have little to no blow by? And if it does that means moderate to extreme blow by correct? How would I go about fixing the blow by?
@onthevirg7159 жыл бұрын
Blow by is caused by a bad piston and rings. To fix tear down motor and replace. Do your Research b4 you by a diesel especially if not sure what to look for. Yes the diesels last a million miles but they do have issues to deal with before that mile marker. Cummins 12v none for killer dowel pin, and 53e block is know for cracking at 300k miles. 5.9 24v has issues of its own. The number 5 and or number 6 cylinders run out and the injectors malfunction over fueling the piston leading to is burning out leading to this blow by we are talking about. The 6.7 diesel is also know for bad 5 and 6 cylinders do to lack of cooling and air flow.my suggestion don't buy one over 200k miles and def do this test on any diesel you plan to buy ford chevy dodge don't matter. Check oil check coolant check trans all for smells. Burnt? Fuel smell in coolant not good. Ok lol you'll prolly never look at this but I'm bored and there you have it.
