Very nice, and different, you usually don't see Bear stuff in brown and this came out really well :)

Thanks! I was struggling to pick a named pilot for this one, but then I remembered it was on the cover of 3058. It’s hard to see the colors on the original, but I think it came out well. Good luck with your painting!

Very nice! The camo is subtle but works really well, I assume you was blotching on the lighter grey? What colours ya use?
@GamingWithADHD3 күн бұрын
Not so much blotching this time as drybrushing, but yes. And you would be surprised, the greys are both craft paints and then Dark Tone wash.

Leave the Black Python alone! Its doing its best! :P LMFAO!!! Also, it totally looks like a VF-17/VF-171 Nightmare/N-Plus Variable Fighter from Macross... in its GERWALK mode, specifically, and I wouldn't be surprised to learn that someone did a sneaky Macross snatch, just because it isnt an I.P. part of "Robotech"... LOL!

I was hyped for Project Phoenix, then served a dish of disappointment. The rifleman looks like its 80 tons, the thunderbolt looks like a 45-50. I also really don't like the warhammer and marauder/ii/iic, they should be new mechs. Battlemaster is pretty solid. The clan versions not really a fan of either. Being fair to any artist tasked with doing a face-lift on beloved designs and artwork is a tough job from the very beginning and its hard to pull it off in a way that fans like and distances itself from the originals legally while still paying homage to those designs all at the same time. I would guess that its rare when that actually happens so getting a few in the book that did it decently is probably about standard for what one could realistically expect.

You could see the Black Python tucking it's legs and arms in and gliding on it's jets using the partial wing ability as part of the design like a LAM but without the conversion gear.
@sharlin6488 күн бұрын
The Rifleman by Plog is a variant, its why its so different in terms of armament, its the big 'hood grill' thats based on the Phoenix stuff, that makes it look odd, but not in a bad way.
@sharlin6488 күн бұрын
How can you not like the Black Python? The old art was always a jet like body but with stupidly thin legs and weird arms the redesign is sex on legs. Its also one of the most cheesy 'mechs there is thanks to its brutal combination of Large pulse lasers and a targetting computer, this thing is the fun police. The Griffin and Shadow Hawk IIC are a bit generic, I really like the Jenner and the Locust IIC looks like its gonna go MEEP MEEP! and run off. You've got to do this bunch up in the 3055 art colours that green and purple :)

I been playing Classic off-on,... and I understand YOU are just talking an Unboxing, but,...Can I ask? I play AS now, but can't find much lore on the Madcat-S Variant. there was a brief bluurb' on it in an Ump-teen millionth TRO somewhere, but can you help me find more info on that One! and the Smoke Jaguar version of the Warhammer 2c, with the 2 LRM-15's?
@jochenwenzel88784 күн бұрын
AFAIR there isn't that much fluff about both beyond a sentence or two. The 'S' configs were introduced almost 20 years ago in First Strike as configs for more confined terrain/cities (jump jets, pulse lasers, srms, ...). The Warhammer IIC 2 variant is noted as a Clan SJ model.

I cant remember what I chose in my backing...it was 6 months ago, and Iv had covid and im a full-time dad... Iv always had a Love/Hate for the Grizzly... Its a Ghost Bear workhorse, by all accounts, but Iv always been annoyed with the cockpit...because it has always been one of the MOST VULNERABLE COCKPITS IN BATTLETECH HISTORY!!! It is literally located in the "central mass" of the Torso where the most optimal point of targetting is! It is such a poor choice!!! Its so fu--ing DUMB!!! ...But...its a CGB mech, its got some good variants, and it can also be customised for some good roles, too... That is a shame about the Rifleman IIC... I will say, that classic design with the anime pose...it totally looks like a "edo-period japanese monk" with the basket-head...but then its got the straw-hat of the wondering Ronin... I do kinda love it in so many ways! ...that being said, its SUCH a shame the mini turned out like that around the cockpit...but...thats too be expected from CGL, in my experience...

Bro...that Rifleman IIC is all jacked up. Such a shame, it was one of my favorite mechs out of TRO: 3055. 😢

I wish somebody would make a ‘Mech scale Union that doubled as a carrying case. Not only would it save the trouble of having to tote it in addition to all your minis, but also because the map scale one is useless to Alpha Strike players.
@michaelkimberling730719 күн бұрын
Map vs mechs scale is a bit wonkey. If the units where all scaled together mechs and everything else would be a lot smaller, and the BA and infantry would be slightly round bumps on a hex base. Each Hex on a map is supposed to be 30m across. The only unit in game that truly fills those spaces are the map scale dropships.

Yeah I was gonna say this is pretty good. But the metallic is a Lil thick. Or maybe got too many coats. I did the latter recently and ended up having to use a drill to clean up the missile rack I'd accidentally filled all the holes in.

Scale is everything I wish it where to scale for the the table. A Mech should not be half its height. It is a shelf queen just like the big Timber Wolf they made. Thanks for the show and tell.
@stuggaroy21 күн бұрын
You know how big that would be? Just put a soccer ball on the table. I like scale too, but they are just too big to use on a standard table. Or transport. Heck. The heroclick dropship s were carrying cases!
@andrewparsons787621 күн бұрын
@@stuggaroy It's like in Warhammer 40k with the Warlord Titan everyone said they where to big to play but people made them and played them. The full size drop ship would make a great bit of game shop terrain or centerpiece for narrative play campaigns. That's what I would be interested in having it for that type of play.
@chrisfisher450322 күн бұрын
For sake of reference, the actual scale of a Union is 13" in diameter. It's MUCH bigger when actually mech scale.
@RecklessFables22 күн бұрын
Yeah, It would be cool if they sold a full-sized one that you could use as storage. The 3D printed third party dropships also lack that function so it would be a nice premium feature

1. I love the Union Dropships... Once our homegame expanded where our little merc unit had more NPC's and more assets to use; my Flyer unit (later LAM squadron) mobilised entirely from our own Union Dropship. I'd keep it orbiting as a defence satellite, deploying 13 of the 15 Fighter/Interceptors down for Aerospace support for the Mech teams, and the other 2 would be support for the Dropship if it came under fire. ...ah, "Recycler: Swanbourne"...she was a good ship! 2. I dislike that its not to scale with the mech minis... I am not a happy Space Pirate! ..also, I don't believe I got one as part of my backing...it was, ironically, "too expensive"... But hey! Maybe I'll finish BUILDING a LIFE-SIZE 1:1 scale Union Dropship before my BT:Merc rewards actually arrive!!! Fully functional, too! Probably easier to create Rocket Fuel then it is to get rewards from CGL!

Project Phoenix was mostly a miss for me. The artist did struggle with perspective, first of all. A lot of the designs don't feel mechanical enough. I think the guy was just throwing shapes at the problem. Most of the mechs look like they have bell bottom jeans. Also, I'm not a fan of the fact most of them have skinny upper arms and upper legs, pointy toes, or too many sideways facing toes on the left/right sides of the feet. Last, the heads sometimes don't look like cockpits. Many heads even look like Cobra Commander face shield.
@sharlin64823 күн бұрын
Very nice! The Stooping Hawk/Stoopid Hawk is actually one of the best medium 'mechs designed, each config is role specific but they're all usually darn good! Lovely work on the paint job :)
