If I recall (from 1974), Joshua Tree isn't far from the Marine Corp base in 29 Palms. That explains the background of your videos.

I just stumbled across this. Glad to hear the stories. I have been working on playing all 50 states myself. I have 49 states in the books. My last trip is Alaska and plan on going there next year. 2025 June,25 or so. Congrats to Clayton. My trip was not planned out. I would drive until I came to a golf course in a state and if it was public I played. Did he meet any celebrities? I met one in Kennebunkport, Maine, playing at Cape Arundel. If you guess 43, you are correct. What a nice guy. He gave me about 5 minutes of his time. Some great pictures as well.

As you say, the feeling using a weaker grip is really awful. It's like you can't hit the planet. Thanks for this video, I have to do this change now, my overly strong grip is killing me 😅⛳️🏆

Thank you. This was the single most helpful video I’ve seen on YT. For months I haven’t been able to figure out why I was hooking my shots, rather than a push draw. Much appreciated!

I will have to try some of this on the range. I used to be a slicer and had a weak grip, now I am hooking everything and cannot hit a wood to save my life anymore. Everything is low and left.

It is not how you putt ..... hate when people say that ..... on a chip you need to use your legs (move the lower legs forward at impact) and turn your left wrist at takeaway , using the ground with your feet and legs thru the whole shot.... your putter is totally different club .... he doesnt explain nothing here ....snake oil !

yup totally agree with you, all these old school guys are fucking amazing at playing golf but them trying to explain their feels into reality is almost always so wonky, Lee Trevino is another, absolutely phenomonal player, dogshit explanations

I am currently a 6 handicap and I put these wedges into my bag about 6 months ago. We spend money on irons, drivers, hybrids, fairway woods, and putters that are more forgiving. So why not use a more forgiving set of wedges? They are after all called "scoring clubs". With this in mind I decided to test these out and what I found was that these wedges should be called "Distance dispersion killers". Meaning that if you hit these clubs to a set yardage - if you mishit them you won't lose as much distance -and that's the difference between hitting the green or landing in a bunker or worse yet - water. I personally think this is the best bang for you $$$'s as far as helping your game. While it's true that the lob wedge could be a little more versatile - (open it up more) most golfer (85% don't need it) for me I just ground down and added a little more relief so I can open up the lob wedge abit more and reduce the height of the leading edge. best wedge more about 85% of all golfers.

Excellent explanation as I am struggling with an excessively closed faced. Mine is an inside out swing with a club face closed at impact. Everything is hooking to the left. My 6-iron is carrying more than ever for some reason but my apex is only 50' for some reason.

I'm here today commenting because, I had a old memory resurface of Al Geiberger saying on TV that he'd only felt the "perfect swing" a couple times in his career. Being he had the most beautiful swing at the time (late 80s), I found that very interesting... and it's made me chase that ideal for my life. I have felt the perfect swing many more times than that , at least several dozen times over the past 40 years... the idea has stuck with me, elusive perfection.

I play off a 2.2 index but have really struggled with the 40 yard bunker shot. I recently tried the vokey gap wedge (48) and it was very easy to use. It got me thinking that specialty wedges might be a good idea to replace my P and G 'set wedges'. Do you have any experience on long bunker shots for the edison wedges? I currently use the Miura k Grind (54/58) and they are great out of the bunker.

Great video, bro. I taught Golf for 17 years and would have them hit to a area on the green representing a Hub cab, CD, Quarter, etc. I wanted them to really dial in the LANDING SPOT. The towel was used for those who had chicken wings, so I would put it under their right arm.

Interesting. I will be trying out a few different OnCore balls this summer. I typically like a mid-compression mid-spin ball with urethane cover. Thinking the Elixir may be the one for me but you never know till you try them out.

I have been watching all of Jim’s videos and doing my best to replicate his swing. I am new to golf, only been playing for 5-6 months but I am progressing incredibly fast. I can strike my 5 iron further than most people drivers and not because I’m swinging hard, but because I do exactly what Jim says and make pure contact. I’m even working on fades and draws now. I used to think Golf was a old man’s thing but I caught the itch so bad that now it’s all I ever want to do. Stay sober, clear headed, don’t stand over the ball long and think too much and follow Jim’s technique. You’ll do well.
