Too much control surface movement, improper take off roll, too fast and he started right in front of himself, so there is no taking off at about the point which you are standing.

What engine is that
@rubberchickenaeronautics36434 ай бұрын
It was a mini A3. I wouldn't recommend using a half A in this rocket. Just not quite enough.

@@rubberchickenaeronautics3643 nice one. I have the maxi mosquito and it flies very mellow on an e rated engine. Big find make it stable and 60s sci fi.🤠👍

I probably built 50 of those things. The OS40FP was a perfect engine for those little planes. I think I still have plenty of wings in the attic. They were a blast.

I couldn't agree more! Every gremlin I have had has had a 40 on it. Makes for a great sport flyer and even better for club combat. I am planning to cut wing cores for future builds. I am flying currently my 5th gremlin.

What causes this?
@rubberchickenaeronautics36438 ай бұрын
Likely was the age of the motor. But I have also seen where a pack is dropped and the motors get damaged. Fortunately its not a common occurrence.

Did you consider papering the fins with fast CA for even more strengthening? Great video BTW
@rubberchickenaeronautics36439 ай бұрын
I have seen a hand full of people papering their fins to add extra strength. I did not do that for this build however I wish that I had. The results seem to speak for themselves. I plan to do that for future builds. The Arizona desert floor is very unforgiving. Glad you enjoyed the video!

Well this one was totally my fault. I got disoriented flying combat and dumb thumbed it in. Happens to the best of us. The other crash videos I was just lucky to be in the right place at the right time with a camera 😉

Power either saves the plane or makes it go in so hard you don't have to worry about fixing it.

It's also funny when people ask which way the wind is blowing before take off. Always been puzzled by that one. Just hold your hand out in front of you and turn in A circle and whatever way you fell the wind blowing on your hand, it will be coming from that direction, lol.

Why would you take off with a plane that sounded like that??! Also looked to be tail heavy. Recipe for disaster.
@emanuelmota7217 Жыл бұрын
Something didn't sound right on take-off - like the spinner was hitting the cowl. And then the loss of control. I'm guessing builder errors.

Looks great. Did the 2 coats of wood sealer take care of all the wood grain? How many coats of primer did you use before painting the red and black? Once again, great video.
@rubberchickenaeronautics3643 Жыл бұрын
Much appreciated. I did one heavy coat of a plain white primer, sanded down high spots, then did the finish colors. I'm very pleased with the finish on the fins. there are a couple spots where you can see the grain a little bit but it turned out to be one of the best set of fins I have had thus far on a first paint job. Ill be flying it this weekend and will try to get some close ups on the fins out in the sunlight so you can judge it better.
