Kelowna used to be a "well kept secret"...until they started incessant tourism advertising. Then they expanded the runways at the airport to let bigger jets come in direct from more locations...without updating any road infrastructure. It's now so crowded that there is terrible traffic...and it's expensive. BUT...I still love it! Great Vineyards, Great Golf courses and the lake!

Most Rutland sucks dangerous taking the transit system downtown is dangerous are night (not as dangerous as big city’s obviously still have had lots of random weird experiences and don’t feel safe a lot) west Kelowna is okay in town is getting worse every year. Glenrosa is very nice. 👍🏻

Moved to Kelowna in 2003. Lived in the old townhouses in Glenmore North. They were 700 square feet for $900 a month. By the time I left in 2011 I was sharing a 3 bedroom apartment on Baron for $2300 between 4 people. Although it has changed a lot I will always call it my second home......Love it there.

Being from the Lower Mainland, Kelowna is 10x better as far as sun in the winter than Vancouver. It took me while to adjust to not seeing rain every day lol. It's still much colder here than Vancouver though.

For someone who grew up in Europe Kelowna is one of the least walkable city. Beautiful location but it's really just a long strip mall
@LIVINGINKELOWNABRITISHCOLUMBIA

agree with Kelowna not being the best for walkability, but calling it just a long strip mall makes no sense... wouldn't that make it extremely walkable? Also Kelowna has so much beauty and nature full of walking and hiking trails literally in every section of the city.

Lived there seven years back in the 70's. Bought a new house Black Mtn area for 37 K in 75. I considered it kind of clique crowd, most moved there from Alberta with an attitude for some reason. It was already growing too fast then, just on the edge of getting to be a bigger city shithole. I avoid the place now. Too much of the bigger city crap. I also lived in Vernon a couple of years and preferred it as being a traditional style town. Also lived in Revelstoke and Golden which had a good small town vibe with cheap ski hills and lots to do outdoors. Both bigger now but still preferable in my view.

I can't disagree. I live in West Kelowna after living in Kelowna for 20 years and love it. The back country is so accesable my quad has a garage door opener. 1 hr drive to amazing emerald green lakes like Kentucky and killer fishing like Pynask. Thought of moving to other towns in the interior but they're all dumpy , no cultures and good luck finding a decent contractor to do anything. Kelowna is 15 minutes away but you can still jump on your bike and do everything.

Hey, what about crime in Kelowna?
@LIVINGINKELOWNABRITISHCOLUMBIA
@LIVINGINKELOWNABRITISHCOLUMBIA 3 ай бұрын
There's definitely crime as with every city. It's unavoidable in a larger population. Now as I've stated there aren't many areas in town I'd avoid living, but there are a few. Mainly a few streets in Rutland and near the homeless camp. Stolen bikes and car break ins are probably top of the list, but I do not feel unsafe in this city whatsoever.

It's definitely an issue as it is with any major city. Honestly I would say there has been an improvement in the last year not with the amount, but with the containment to a particular area. Instead of being as spread out throughout the city like they were previously allowed, there is a now a camp. Obviously it's not the solution, but at least it feels a little more contained.
