Seriously. I was shocked by that. I hope it survives. I have no idea if it will or not. I never saw it open or close it's mouth - not sure if it can do that. However, that gathering where I saw it was for breeding. I'm guessing that if the shark is there for breeding, it's fed enough to have energy for that rather than saving his energy for just eating.

They're gorgeous swimmers! We're working with scientists here on Oahu to get genetic proof that the population here stays around Oahu. This has been shown on Maui, making each island's population unique and very endangered!

Glad you liked it! And yes, swimming with mantas is AMAZING and we are fortunate enough to do it quite frequently here on Oahu. Plenty of other manta vids on the channel if you're interested. We use a GoPro Hero10. Tried the 11 and wasn't convinced it was better.

Too bad about the vids. In the winter, the only reliable place to see mantas is the Big Island off the Kona coast. Here on Oahu, it's rare to see them in the winter. Good luck!

Right? They are super smart. I trained 2 saddle wrasses to hunt crabs with me a few years ago using hand gestures and clicks with my tongue. But yeah, they are also smart enough to be free loaders and opportunistic.

Thanks for the comment! We have the hardest time telling the difference between gray reef, oceanic blacktip and Galapagos. I do know that all of these in the video are pregnant females - which can be a bit more aggressive. Was a fun swim though!

This is an Eagle Ray and it’s eating some type of crustacean. I’m not sure what crustacean exactly. The eagle ray caught and ate 10 of these in about 20 minutes. Thanks for watching!

The singing is a humpback whale. The whale swam right under us, then a few seconds later, the tiger shark came up to investigate. Such a cool day!!
