Hi there, thanks for this webinar. I am late to the party but very excited. I am struggling to estimate the time needed (workload). I won’t charge hourly but still need to estimate that so I will not work a lot for little. Could you please advise ?

Great points in the podcast! The standards definitely need to be updated. There are so many intangibles to value now. How do you calculate the value of an e-course, e-book, NFT, etc.? Thought provoking questions we have to think through in improving the industry.

What if you are not a CPA yet and you plan on being one eventually. Can you outsoure the tax returns to a CPA for signature? What would you do?
@jodygrunden20282 жыл бұрын
You can outsource the tax returns, or not include tax returns in your offering.
@jodygrunden20282 жыл бұрын
About 80% of our clients eventually have us do tax returns. At the signing of the engagement that percent is closer to 60%. Of our Canadian clients, we do not do any of their tax returns.

I don't get it. He mentioned to not be a sales person and be a "thought leader" - but if you are new and just starting out its 100% sales. Thought Leadership doesn't happen over time, if you need sales you need to do sales period.

One problem with what you talked about in your podcast, up until 25:53 is that there is obviously something extremely off-putting about you or your organization for so many prospective candidates to just stand you up like that. Once - ok I can see things happen. Twice… ok this is really stretching it but 3 times is obviously a pattern. I think that your organization (whatever it is you do in whatever sector that you cover and wherever it is you are located) fails to recognize that when someone shows up to an interview, they are adding THEIR value to YOUR organization, not the other way around. How much money are you losing by not having their skills and what do you have to offer to lure them in?! Those people in turn interview you through out the hiring process A-Z to determine than you are not a fit for them. It would be prudent to identify what is wrong with YOU and what is so offputting with YOU for so many people to bail so early in the process…. I know it sounds like I am putting the blame on you and that is because I do. You need to recognize that there is a significant difference between fresh out of college applicant with that fake enthusiasm vs someone who has been around the block for 25 years and knows their way around the play yard. When those guys show up they already know what to look for, what red flags you give off, what questions they need to ask you and if they disengage 2 minutes into the interview process then you REALLY know that you have not impressed them enough and that is on you really… I say shed the donuts and coffee delivery and think about what YOU need to do instead of reverting to the dogma of “we are doing you a favor by talking to you”. And then there is a thing about $$$$. Uff… I sensed a certain nerve that was hit in your voice… because it did not sound like you wish you could pay your employees more…. Rather you were disappointed they would have the nerve to accept higher offers as if $50-$100K extra is something they (employees) should not deserve. When employee decides to leave and you begin losing $$$$ and have to go through circus of hiring process and onboarding only to have people leave on you causing you to lose more $$$$ and stuff and stuff… that $50-$100K pay raise you could have and should have given WITH GRATITUDE will end up costing you whatever x however long… and that is hindsight 20/20 for you. You got me curious now. I am going to submit the comment and actually look up your organization to see what it is you do and why people dont show based on company reviews. I hope I do not find a bunch of 1 star ratings.
