How do you NOT touch the bag while running? Weird.

Ummm.....there was no proper appeal. Just because the player says he did? A proper appeal has to be made to call the runner out.

Hey I know this is an old video but I appreciated this review. There seemed to have been a lot of hype a few years ago and there isn't that much modern info on it, but all the info from a few years ago seems to be pretty positive. Thinking it might be really fun for gymnastics or skateboarding. You made this video 3 years ago... do you still use these or still think they are worth the money? thanks again.

As an umpire, I am always watching baserunners to make sure they touch. (It’s tough to watch everyone with a two man crew but we do our best). Coaches have no idea how many outs they could steal if they watched for missed touches

What a petty rule especially when there's not even a play on the ball there.

The fact the ump had to be told doesn't sit right with me tbh if the ump didn't see how can he call it
@josiahharry10889 күн бұрын
I glad the correct call was made. But I’m tired of seeing players telling the refs what to call them they call it. The ref should be the one who sees it and calls it. If he doesn’t see it move on, or if it’s that’s bad review it
@calebblakemore76746 күн бұрын
in baseball, this type of out has to be appealed by a defensive player to an umpire for him to call it. by rule an umpire can’t just make this call himself. but the umpires watch everyone touch the bases to the best of their abilities so he would have seen this.
@nonamephinsyt9 күн бұрын
Couldn't that also be interference on the defender?

That is definitely not how an appeal is done

He did touch the bag. When his right foot came up, you could see the bag move. Either that, or his shadow messed me up.

Did the umpire just take the defender at his word or did he see the runner miss the bag himself and was just going to allow it?

My question is if he saw him not touch the bag why did he wait for you to say something and if he didn’t see it why did he just believe you

Had that happen in Junior High. I was the catcher & we were getting slammed by the other team. Guy hit the ball right to the fence & sped around the bases, an infield 3 Run HR. But I looked at the Umpire & pointed to second base. "hey ump, if he missed 2nd his run doesn't count right?" I got my answer as the Umpire called him out on the last at bat. His coach, team & parents were very confused. We still got beat, but it was oddly satisfying

Batter should have called interference by fielder covering the bag
@calebblakemore76746 күн бұрын
it would *obstruction* not interference. but it still wouldn’t be for 2 reasons. 1) the fielder doesn’t move in anyway to block the path of the runner or hinder his progress and 2) it’s still the runners primary responsibility to touch all the bases in order

I don't know. It looked like he hit the side of the base with his toe. If you watch closely, you can see a ripple in the base fabric as he makes brief contact. I'm surprised it didn't trip or at least cause a slight stumble.

I cannot say I ever did that in my career of playing. I was always really weird about touching the base. Even if I had to do a special ed kind of shuffle to make sure I time it up right. lol That awesome though he got the call. Most blues don’t even pay that close attention.
