@@FinallyMe78 it’s slightly better. We are trying actual apple EarPods rather than the cheaper Walmart knock offs. The engine seems to mess with the Bluetooth signal or has some sort of interference. Eventually I will solve it.

What is the difference between a wheeled landing and a non-wheeled landing?
@Yellow_cub4 күн бұрын
@@FinallyMe78 the wheel landing is when we initially land on just the main front two wheels. In that configuration the tail is up and still flying. The tailwheel is a few feet off the ground, as the airplane is in a level or near level position. I generally keep the tail up while the plane decelerates down the runway. The tail will stay up until it can no longer stay up due to slow speed, or if i choose to pull it down early. Alternatively there is a 3-point landing where all three wheels touch the ground at or near the same moment. In this situation the nose is pointed higher. This can also be known as a “full stall landing” depending on the airspeed prior to touchdown. When you flew with me we would have done both types of landings.

Sorry about that, this one is bad. Oddly, on this same flight in another area the sound was optimal. One day I’ll get the sound figured out.

It has the 0-200. But it’s de-rated, so likely making around 90-95 Hp.

Glad my dad had this much trust in me as a kid, most of my good childhood memories were up in his plane, I think I was about 7 when he first really let me try flying, but when I was 9, he trusted me enough to fly for over 2 hours whilst he was half asleep. Keep bringing him up in the air, and teaching him to fly! He’ll cherish these memories for life.

Sitting in the back is smart. Makes it so you can stop shorter by keeping the tail boom down easier.

J3 Cub. The only way to solo is from the rear seat, else the weight and balance make it unstable.
@danimal865Ай бұрын
@ibdavidc ahh ok, I thought the reason was solely for more rear weight. Thanks for reply!

Why did you land on the grass? To avoid damage to the wheels?

Grass is fun to land on. This plane was built in 1945 when grass was the primary landing surface.

Why do you fly from the back seat?
@Yellow_cub2 ай бұрын
Great question! The Piper J3 Cub is like a small handful of tailwheel airplanes that require the pilot to fly from the back when there is no passenger up front due to weight and balance concerns. This traces back to the time it was designed and manufactured in the 1940’s. In reality, based on our personal calculations, we could actually fly just fine from the front. But there is some extra paperwork to fill out with the FAA. It’s fun to fly from the back, and certainly adds something to the experience.

It might be a silly question, but why the landing was on the grass?

Way more fun 🤩 it was originally designed for grass airstrips.
