i wasn’t even alive when this song came out but this will always be my favorite AM song…so beautifully written, it’s so emotional yet so happy and calm at the same time. this song got me threw some sad, happy, and confusing times and will always have a special place in my heart

I find it funny how Alex appears to be atleast mildly intoxicated here, despite being the in United States and having just turned 20. I'd imagine he wasn't too thrilled about having to consume in private as opposed to a pub

I would love Alex to sing this Acapella soon as an interlude between songs. I can just imagine his crooning voice reviving this classic and underrated AM song.

He's pining for her In a people carrier There might be buildings and pretty things to see like that But architecture won't do Although it might say a lot about the city or town I don't care what they've got, keep on turning 'em down It don't say the funny things she does Don't even try & cheer him up, because It just won't happen He's got the feeling again This time on the aeroplane There might be tellys in the back of the seats in front But Rodney and Del won't do Although it might take your mind off the aches and the pains Laugh when he falls through the bar But you're feeling the same 'Cause she isn't there to hold your hand She won't be waiting for you when you land It feels like she's just nowhere near You could well be out on your ear This thought comes closely followed by the fear And the thought of it Makes you feel a bit ill Yesterday I saw a girl who looked like someone you might knock about with And almost shouted And then reality kicked in within us It seems as we become the winners You lose a bit of summat And half wonder if you won it at all And don't say 'owt 'cause you've got no idea And she's still nowhere near And the thought comes closely followed by the fear And the thought of it Makes you feel a bit ill Despair in the departure lounge Is one and they'll still be around at three No signal and low battery What's happened to me?

@@ian_htxthats not an Arctic Monkeys movie. I think he means more of a documentary. I too have a couple of early bsides that I would love to see on such a film. Like "bigger boys and stolen sweethearts" and this song aswell.

I love how far away the look on his face is when he says what's happened to me and then the crowd screams and he just moves on. It just seems like a very real moment for him that gets ruined but he's still able to jump in and keep the energy going.

I think the saddest part about this song is that everyone else is cheering at him and saying he's perfect and all that but actually he's singing about his doubt on fame and whether he likes being cheered at or being praised at all.
@larrycanonga78125 жыл бұрын
The song it's not about that at all, it's about him missing his girl and feeling bad when his relationship begins to lack closeness because he is on the road becoming a "winner", aside from that he doesn't talk about fame, being cheered or praised, you are not some kind of unique genius that understands something the crowd is not understanding.
