This certainly doesn't explain the situation but I have a friend who is an AC flight attendant based in YUL. She explained to me part of the challenge with the North African flights (ALG/CMN) is just a shared number of minor individual customer issues you have to "diffuse" on each flight. Basically, they're used to dealing with these issues but not when every other passenger is causing an issue at the same time. These flights go surprisingly junior given the amount of hours on each trip.

United claims she had too many carry ons, so they kicked her off the flight. Ironic, because when I’ve seen others with too many carryons, (insert proper gender pronoun here so United won’t blacklist me) are offered to get (insert proper gender pronoun here so United won’t blacklist me) carryons checks for free!

THIS IS NOT JUST A BOEING PROBLEM!!! Alaska Airlines knew the airplane had a problem. They discounted cockpit warning lights and did not fly the airplane over water? THAT'S TAKING CARE OF YOUR PASSENGERS?! NOT EVEN CLOSE.
