No access to the cab? Not good on those cold, wet, snowy days or if in place with wild animals and you need to move back and forth in the dark.
@TheItinerantCraftsman11 ай бұрын
I have two cab access points, they are called doors🤣 Funny thing is, I’ve been living in a vehicle since 2018 and before that, a kayak. I never had to worry about “wild animals “, or cold, wet, snowy days. I mean, I literally have to get out of the truck to fill it up. How long have you been traveling in yours? By the way…these aren’t vans. Any idea of how big a pass through is? Any idea how easy it is to crawl through one? I did it in my 20’s but I ain’t 20 no more.

@@TheItinerantCraftsman I am sorry, I didn't mean to hurt your little feelings. And yes, I am familiar with pass throughs and some are thought out better than others and some are easier to use and are situated better than others.
@TheItinerantCraftsman11 ай бұрын
@@ExtrovertedCenobite No hurt feelings… just curious as to your experience using a pass through. They transmit a lot of road noise, are difficult to maintain a good seal, are hardly ever used…except in a big rain storm and interfere with the design. If you look at my rig, you’ll notice a giant tool box that would have been eliminated just to have a pass through. The pass through was eliminated during the first stage of design.

@@TheItinerantCraftsman I have owned a camper van and a C Class RV up till 6 months ago, looking at an expedition vehicle and I do like the pass through for many reasons. On of the better passthroughs is a youtuber JOURNEYMAN who has a double door entry and a raised cab making it quite easy to move from the living area to the cab. Well thought out and convenient to use.

@@ExtrovertedCenobite it was a hard sell for me to give up the pass through. Especially since I hate being out in the rain unless it’s a hot summer day. But ultimately, it had more downside than up for me. I know many others who spent a lot of money to make it happen

I follow Bruce's build as well. Did you have your front end aligned after these tires, are you putting new spring on? With or without the alignment are you seeing heavy tire wear on the front? I'm hoping new spring to replace my 2004 springs will help in this, also does it shimmy much with these tires on?

If you have a trailer brake controller, i used to have 1 with a trigger on the side that would adjust the amount of brake pressure on the trailer brakes only. When things got squirly I would trigger the trailer brakes only with that squezeable trigger and that would pull things straight. Worked very well many times when i felt a jacknife coming on.

I was using a Blue Ox system amzn.to/47ZiW8z and while it does have a wireless remote, it wasn’t as easy as when I run a dedicated electric brake controller. That said, you are correct. In fact, that’s what I did for the rest of the 2,000 mile cross country trip and subsequent snow storms. However, this incident totally caught me off guard because of how focused I was on the rapidly deteriorating conditions, both inside and outside the cab.
