Such a simple concept, but even though after 5 years clear the NHS continues to waste resources on me. The damn QRISK calculator even had them trying to concoct a "hypertension" narrative based on white coat readings My cholesterol is in the "ideal" range, my BP is 110/80... when I hit 70 my AGE will tip me into the red. The calculator doesn't care about diet or exercise but adds 1 percent risk for POSTCODE. . I feel sorry for those around me who are not able to lose the weight and take offence when it's even mentioned. But how can anyone "live with" a terrifying disease. ? . As a "fat but fit" 59 year old (ethical) vegan cyclist, In 2019 I found the diagnosis (after flu laid me out) as embarrassing as terrifying and lost the first 10 kilos in time for the 3 month repeat HbA1c which of course was normal. 5 years later I'm 23 kilos down at a BMI of 25 and aiming for the 23.5 of my athletic 30s. . My diet is "high carb" WFPB as it has been for over 40 years (perhaps close to a Mediterranean" macro balance) - is this "under dietary control" ? I would be mortified if anyone assumed I was part of the "low carb" cult. I consider myself CURED though they never even offered me a glucose stress test let alone insulin measurements.I would happily get on a VO2MAX treadmill but would draw the line at MRI. I had probably been sailing close to the wind when I was heavy - though doubtless my cycling kept me safe and I was cycling 10 to 20 every day and routinely adding 40 miles on a Sunday.. but I "bonked" a few times in the days when insanely I though fruit juice was "cycling fuel" ... I got fat on ad-libitum flour products. . I guess I will never know if there is any permanent damage but my blood metrics are all "ideal" and I consider myself CURED

Roy Taylor is a rockstar and he deserves plenty of groupies! 😂 I only have joke. He deserves a lot of respect. I’m in the United States and I’m wondering what’s happening in this country to implement his wildly successful program or something like it at least.

Nice, but - Oh, why did you have to say “Type 1 diabetes, which usually occurs in childhood?” You have had so many good discussions about Type 1 autoimmune diabetes occurring in adults; and even telling the truth that most cases of new onset autoimmune diabetes happens in adults. You should have skipped this myth, or clarified it in a better way: ie “And in children diagnosed with diabetes, Type 1 is the most common cause; but autoimmune diabetes occurs at any age.” Was going to share this vid, but cannot.

Cell therapy is the only functional cure of type 1. Pumps and accessories are for money makers and share holders. Apple will release a watch with a non invasive glucose monitor and insulin will be concentrated and faster acting allowing for smaller pumps. Something like an Omnipod daily which will be small device the size of a freestyle libre maybe… I expect to see a breakthrough in cell therapy in the next 5 years - Sernova or Vertex. Smart insulin is also a contender. JDRF need to focus and fund cell therapy and it needs fast tracking through FDA.

Happens daily when people stop eating carbs and sugar. Carnivore eaters reverse t2 diabetes at a 98% success rate, and in weeks. Diabetes is a choice. Choose health.

If you actually watched any of Roy Taylor you would know that it's excess calories laying down fat - not any particular macronutrient. What does your cholesterol look like ?

@yangtse55 my cholesterol initially went high, but stabilised. All my bloodwork is pristine. Cholesterol is not the enemy, insulin resistance has always been. The American heart foundation has recently released papers showing that cholesterol may have been incorrectly identified as a cause of heart disease. I have lived for 18months as a carnivore, and recently my doctor and wife made me take a calcium score. This measures free calcium, and is the gold standard for cardiovascular risk. Some people have results in the 1000 range. A good score is 100. After a 18months of only eating protein and saturated animal fat, my score returned at zero; none detected. My doctor was visibly disturbed by the result. When i started carnivore i was 63, fat, sick, on heart meds. 2x heart attacks, 2x stents. In week 1 my 50yrs of ibs, gastric reflux, abdominal pain and bloating disappeared completely. By week 4 my t2 diabetes had completely reversed. My prostate problems went away. My sleep apnoea was gone. I lost 75lbs effortlessly. I was building muscle mass easily. My hair and fingernails grow at twice the rate, and look healthier. My eyes are better. I dont need my heart meds. My bp is excellent. My nerves are rock steady. My depression and anxiety lifted. My gum disease cleared. My inflammation markers are incredibly low. My cardiovascular disease seems to no longer be an issue. I only need one meal a day, and only 7hrs sleep, instead of 10. My sleep quality is superb, and I awake refreshed and instantly aware. My joint pain and arthritis disappeared. Every single metric of human health has transformed. Im as surprised as anyone else. This is life altering. Ive rejoined the workplace, and I'm shaming guys half my age. I eat once a day, never hungry, never tired. Beef, butter, bacon, eggs. Good luck to you sir.

Stem cells -- like cord blood or fetal? Or some other source? Would they be able to use a person's own cells to do ex vivo expansion and an autograft implantation? Because allograft implantation would seemingly be subject to would be subject to both graft rejection and autoimmune response. Are the immunosuppressants used different for "auto" and "exo" responses?

The problem is the language. People have the idea that "reversal" means it is cured and will never return. The *actual truth* is that the reversal will be effective so long as the patient maintains the lifestyle interventions they were advised to do per their providers orders. If they return to the previous habits of highly processed foods, lack of exercise, and so forth, the the diabetes symptoms, the high glucose numbers, and the weight will all return and will likely do so with a vengeance. So, providers need to reinforce the message of long-term lifestyle habits changes. Also, it's not just about the weight loss. It's about reducing NAFLD/DASH and improving Cardiovascular tone and rebalancing the endocrine system function.

Disappointing to hear that it’s unlikely I can reverse my T2 having had it for 12 years, I shall give it a go though. I’ve already started 22.24 for five days a week and and 44 hours of fasting once a week and have already lost 14 lbs in 3 weeks.

I saw information about this on another video that showed that even after ten years and more there was a good chance of success. I have had T2 for ten years and I have been losing weight, which lowered my blood pressure considerably, and my blood sugar is now down into the pre-diabetic range. I don't know how much further it will go, but my metabolism is improving. The dry cough from my Ramipril has also gone away.
