This is so atmospheric. The slow rock of the chair, the foggy sky, the dawn chorus of birds. This is how music was experienced for so much of history, and it's somehow magically slower paced and very relaxing.

Oh, the blacksmith courted me, Nine months and better, He fairly won my heart, Wrote me a letter. With his hammer in his hand, He looked quite clever, And if I was with my love, I would live forever. But where is my love gone? With his cheeks like roses, And his good black billycock on, Decked around with primroses. I’m afraid the scorching sun, Might shine and burn his beauty. And if I was with my love, I would do my duty. Strange news is come to town, Strange news is carried. Strange news flies up and down, That my love is married. I wish them both much joy, Though they cannot hear me, And may God reward them well, For the slighting of me. Don’t you remember when You laid beside me, And you said you’d marry me, And not deny me? If I said I’d marry you, It was only for to try you, So, bring your witness, love, And I’ll not deny you. Oh, witness have I none, Save God almighty, And may he reward you well, For the slighting of me. Her cheeks grew pale and wan, It made her poor heart to tremble, To think she loved a one, And he proved deceitful Oh, the blacksmith courted me, Nine months and better, He fairly won my heart, Wrote me a letter. With his hammer in his hand, He looked quite clever, And if I was with my love, I would live forever.

What about parchment or leatherhead that 🤔 were also 🤔 used before the plastic head?
@chickenindoubleC2 ай бұрын
Hmmm, I'm not sure about this. I have not heard of parchment heads, but I prefer calfskin. Some folks like goatskin too. There are also lots of good reasons to have a plastic head, but I try to avoid it.
@blainechappell5383Ай бұрын
@@chickenindoubleCthe Joseph Rodgers Jr heads that we all rave about are parchment. I believe you mount a parchment head in much the same way, because it’s a processed hide.

Great production on this Mads, well done - This will come in very handy for me, as I'm sure it will for others too! Keep making these, I've not seen any other videos in the community that have this sort of feel. I'm so glad! Hopefully I'll be able to play it far better in a month!

Dear Mads, can you please send me the following heads that you used up trying to get putting on your beautiful banjo? I want to try to gluing calf skin on to my plastic 🤔 banjo heads. Better than wasting. Willing to buy too.

I certainly would, but my dog ate them! You can by them for about $20 from Bob Smakula at Smakula Fretted Instruments online. He is a nice fellow and will help you out! Maybe he has scraps too!

I’m highly impressed by this production. And I’d say it takes a good 3-4 attempts to really start to get the hang of mounting a flesh head. Don’t be scared, yall. The full setup with a new head should take about 48 hours, in my experience. Great walk through.
